New owner of Sy # 1128!!!!!!!!!!!! i am flipping out!!!!

all i can say is, i love this truck!!! there were two boost leaks (which, if you know the truck, there is NO plumbing forr the intercooler (AWIC from the factory).

i pulled it into the shop, fixed the boost leaks and BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

took two of my buddies for a spin, and did 4, count then FOUR, AWD burnouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this thing is retarded!!!!!!

i am pulling off the ground effects and taking them back to stock (black, satin finish) and am painting the hood and cowl. (my paint guy was there with me tonight, and we already have the paint )

then, a few odds and ends, and i will just drive the pants off it. this will become the new corrado support vehicle (see pix below of the "monster")

i am so impressed with this thing!!!!!!

i am ecstatic right now, and can't possibly express my emotion!!!!!!

i have ALWAYS wanted one of these, and now, i OWN one!!!!

here are some REALLY bad fotoz. remember, the truck sat, outside, for 6 years. the fuel, is 2 + yrs old. it is not perfect, but will be before H20!!!

i am so impressed that a 17 yr old truck can do what this does.

sorry for the rant, but i am SO pleased with this purchase!!!!!

special thanks to John, the dude i bought it from for being such a cool cat. i was sorry to take his baby, but am SO pleased at the same time. the truck is great, and he was a great seller. not to mention a really cool guy to boot.

here is the "monster (425whp VR6 Turbo VW corrado)

i got the car as a bare shell, and built it by hand, by myself. i am VERY proud of it, and it is WONDERFULLY fast. this is to show you guys how anal i am with these toys.

notice the WMI light in the washer sprayer the EBC is hidden in the ash tray, and the car is nothing but factory on the outside. i like them clean, and simple. but classy.

sorry to whore pix, but this should give you an idea of how the Syclone will turn out......

(the "DM" on the windsheild was from the magazine shoot i did a year back....)

John, thank you for helping me finally acheive a dream i have had for years, and thank you for your patience with me. i am a pain in the ass, i know it, but i also will take the best care of this truck!!! i will make you so proud, i promise!!

as an aside: i have built a TON of turbo cars, and this is my first DOMESTIC turbo, so i will have a lot of questions. please bear with me during the "learning curve". i look forward to being a part of this community of the best trucks ever made!!!!

Congrats mike, i love the vdub too. in fact i have some pics of your car from H2O last year. i actually think i met you. (unless someone had a car just like you) i was down there marty and craig and a few more in DVAG. i was the guy there with the typhoon with the s4 parts for sale in the back, taking pics for DVAG. im actually about to pick up another g60 myself. im sure you have had enough nightmares with the turbo vr6, so im sure you are experianced in hunting down problems (don't worry sytys have less electrical gremlins in my experience) good luck and have fun

if you need corrado help, i am your man!!!! i have had 4. (2 VRT's, and 2 G60's, one was stage three, the other was a rotrex powered ticking time bomb!!)

i love the VW's, and have had MANY of them, but this truck just has a different personality! i love my rado, dont get me wrong, but it is a GT car (as in, grand tourer). it looks good, is fast, handles like it is on rails, and is the classy sports coupe i love. BUT.....................

the syclone is raw beast, and i love that about it!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS, tell Ryan i got a Sy, see what he says!! he and i hung out quite a bit, and i LOVE his A3!!! (i have had 2 A3's myself, awesome cars!!!)

The cladding "ground effects" on a Syclone were Not painted from the factory, you may want to try some trim shine or tire shine on the cladding to make it look better, If it was or is painted it was most likely fixed before.

yeah, i am familiar that they were not painted, so i am going with a satin finish/matte black. these were painted grey, which is not my taste.

i figure, if i paint them, and have a satin finish, it will look like well treated "bare" plastic, and be durable.

i am all about the stock appearance.

Love that corrado. My cousin had a G60 he flipped and totalled then had a VR6 that he took to hawaii with him, but sold it eventually. I always liked that car. Somewhat rare sporty little hatchback. :tup: Welcome to the world of SY/TY.

Welcome Mike. I'm up in D-town all the time (not with the truck usually).

Stay tuned for the occasional SyTy meet in the region...for example Hooters in Maple Shade New Jersey is coming up in November (more on that soon).

My dad grew up with the Holberts and we always had VW's so I appreciate the now rare Corrados. :tup:

Actually, they were painted. There's a refinish TSB from GM... do a quick search.

Yours looks like classic cladding fade. It was a big problem... they were fading already in the early 90s.

*EDIT* Looking closer at it.... yours does look a little like it was painted Argent (Ty cladding color)

yeh, i was kinda toasty that day too. at least we were not as bad as the dude in the S3 on the horse track :lol:

i was looking for a typhoon for over 8 years before i found and bought one i liked, and from a stage 3 s4 to that was quite a change so i know what you mean

i don't get on dvag as much anymore but i'll let ryan know, i havent been to a dvag meet in about 6 months :roll:

wanna help me at the shop tonight???? pulling off cladding, hood, cowl, morrors, wipers, etc. then, pulling out plugs, wires, cap, rotor.

i would. love any help you can provide, to expedite the process we have a few races lined up at H20 already, and i need to get this bugger done.

ok, stock door cards back in, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, typhoon mirrors, all ordered.

new antenna mast, grommit, and nut ordered. new hood release cable ordered.

head unit, and all new speakers ordered.

new embroidered floor mats ordered.

brand new glove box emblem ordered.

ADLD (sp) cable ordered, and DataMaster already installed on laptop.



hood, cowl, and cladding coming off in the next few days, painted, then back on.

this truck will be completely transformed in the next week
