Welcome to the "cult"! Looks like you well on your way to being the owner of a "pampered" truck :D!

where did you order a glove box emblem from?

That is none other than Scott Husner or "washere" as he goes by on ebay. Bought several items from him over the years myself. GREAT guy to deal with...

just waiting on more parts, and we will see BIG changes soon!!!!!

also, i have wicked boost creep, and am seeing REALLY high spikes. all vac lines are good, all boost plumbing is solid. there IS a "free flow" cat on here, so i assume that is causing it, but dammit, i saw 20 psi for a split second (before backing off VERY fast) tonight. that is NOT good.

i have read everything i could find, and i cant for the life of me figure it out. what the hell makes it boost so far past where it should?

Wow...you work fast!

Way to "save" a funky Sy and bringing it back to stock appearance (except for the steering wheel). (the original truck photo looks like the Fox Chase section of NE Philly...)

Let me know when you're in your shop again and I'll try and make it up sometime. (weekends)

Re: New owner of Sy # 1128!!!!!!!!!!!! i am flipping out!!!!

thanks for the compliments! i was actually struggling with the wheel choice. i wanted to stay stock, but the stock one was in 5/10 shape, and i want it NICE. the wheel i chose is typical "american style" and is period correct, so i feel a little better about that. the gauge, well, it is way more modern, but it helps function, so form can fall to the wayside ;)

as for visiting the shop, i would LOVE for another Sy/Ty owner to help me out with things, i can always use an extra set of eyes.

i tend to be there EVERY evening, including the weekends. so i will PM you my schedule once i know it (gotta see when my kid will be around etc. )

haha!!! i hear ya. i am no stranger to building high HP turbo cars, but this thing is just bass ackwards (if you catch my drift) ;)

i lok forward to learning more as i go. hell, this is the second EVER domestic car i have owned, and the second EVER automatic transmission i have owned.

i have had MANY cars too, so that's a bold statement.

Turn your WG rod out a turn or two.

Another thing that happens, is that the WG arm sticks when hot... this is especially common if the truck sat for a long period of time.

Too many boost excursions over 17 psi with street pump gas, and your motor will be toast.

Re: New owner of Sy # 1128!!!!!!!!!!!! i am flipping out!!!!

by turn out, you mean make shorter, so when it opens, it opens more right? like, the way i see it, on an internally 'gated turbo, the longer the arm, the less the actuator opens. the shorter, the more. make sense?

i am used to external setups, so this is the first internally 'gated turbo i have ever owned.

and i agree, i am staying out of boost as much as possible.

one good thing is the compression is dropped to 8.25:1, and i have forged rods and pistons with ARP's, so it is strong. but i know what overboosting can do, and i don't like it. ;)

i will play with the WG arm, and see if it helps.

oh, and the truck did indeed sit for a LONG time, so this all makes sense.

thank you for the idea!!!!!

turn out = longer. Longer rod = less boost.

The boost amount isn't the problem. We run 25psi on stock rods, pistons without failure. Been like that for 3 years or more now. The problem is detonation. You can't always HEAR it either.

Re: New owner of Sy # 1128!!!!!!!!!!!! i am flipping out!!!!

thanks for clearing that up for me. i will totally look into that tonight.

i just want a nice stock boost pull, and (hopefully i will have my cable soon) a nice data log. :)

If it sat, save yourself some headache, and shoot some GM heat riser lube on the WG arm while you're down there. You should be able to move it with a pinky, when it's moving free enough.

Ultimately, though, if the problem recurrs (mine's done it for years) when hot, you'll need to enlarge the flapper shaft boss.

Eons ago my stocker was sticky, and caused some issues that Dig's advice cured. I had to shop around at a few GM dealers to find the Heat Riser Lube.

Re: New owner of Sy # 1128!!!!!!!!!!!! i am flipping out!!!!

thanks for the tips, i will totally look at the WG, and will search for that spray.

i spent last night ripping apart the interior, and rewiring the ENTIRE stereo, and putting in all new components.

i will post pix shortly ;)

as for H20, there is NO WAY IN HELL i will ever miss it!!!! i look forward to this all year. it is my "me time". no kid, just car shit!!! and lots (LOTS) of beer ;)

my corrado won't be done for the show (currently in CT getting tuned by C2Motorsports) so i am taking the Syclone down.

thanks man, i appreciate the kind words. i built it from a bare shell, in my garage. it took me ~ 2 years, but it was worth it.

i love the car, and am very pleased with the way it turned out. that was corrado # 4 i built for myself. and it is by far my favorite.
