North Fl Tyclone

Re: North Fl Tyclone

Today I replaced the intercooler pump, and finished up the heater core replacement. I fixed a lot of the loose dash panels while I was at the heater core job. The truck is running very good, and I ordered a Turbo Tweak chip and 3 bar map sensor last night. Big fun for a project that was that cheap.

If you are ditching the escutcheons, please could I have them? :)

I also like the colour but understand abouth the matching aspect!

How weird that such a nice truck would go for so cheap.

Well done Randy!

you can have them. I'm sure I will need something in the future that you can give to me. I will let you know when they have been taken off. It may be several weeks or months, as I am going to remove them when I repaint the truck.

Re: North Fl Tyclone

I put a new exhaust on the truck today, because the old one was rusted out. I went with a stock replacement muffler (2.5") and ditched the cat. I ran 3" after the muffler, because we used up all the 2.5" pipe my buddy had on the downpipe to muffler. The truck is much quieter, and sound good.

Thanks to DaveP and a $20 CV split boot repair kit, we are back in the AWD game. I just took the truck for a quick spin and it is pulling good. I still have to figure out the speedo, and a few other things, but I do have two new tires coming in tomorrow.

You mean 4 new tires?

No, the front two on the truck are new. I am just replacing the dry rotted back two tires with tires that are the same brand as the front. The front has Falken's and the rear has Good Year's. All four are 245/50/16.

I fixed the speedo today with some help from DaveP. It turns out that my blue and white wire that goes from the DRAC to the speedo had pulled out of the connector. I pushed the terminal out of the connector, than soldered the wire back to the terminal. The speedo works great now. On to other issues. Thanks for watching.

Would be a privilege to return the favour!

Great work - nice to see it come back to life. :D

Today we (and by "we" I mean a couple of buddies) removed the cladding. The cladding is pretty rough. I think I will try my hand at cladding repair. Still up in the air about what to do with the truck.

thank god this was a blazer with a body kit. All the cladding was screwed instead of being riveted

Re: North Fl Tyclone

So I tried a little cladding repair the past couple of days.

First I tried plastic welding. This did not work very good, and broke again as soon as it was fixed:

Then I thought I would try this. I bought this stuff at China Freight and it is about $2. I bought eight after I tried it.

The stuff works great for fixing cladding. I stuck a rocker panel back together that was completely broken in half, and it is very strong. It is very easy to sand down to a desired contour. I even used it to repair missing pieces of plastic on the cladding. This pic shows a broken bolt tab filled with the epoxy. Very easy to do and the epoxy does not stick to the tape.

after repair. I used the epoxy to fill in the broken out piece by placing some tape and parts of an empty 12 pack container behind the void:

this corner was trashed if you look at it in the youtube video that I posted in the for sale section. I think it will be fine now:

I am going to try and prime the cladding tomorrow, and I will post up some more pics when the primer is on. I think I am going to go ahead and paint the cladding gloss black while I have it off.

Great work! I too never had good luck welding plastic. It always ends up brittle and breaks.
