does this help? I did it all in -8 and used 45deg angle ports on the adaptor on the block.

My stock oil lines from the filter housing to the block have been leaking so I'm thinking about just replacing them all with these ss braided lines. I have a ? though. In the picture where the fittings are going into the housing, the stock housing has that adapter plate or whatever it's called. To get these anodized fittings to work, does that adapter plate just come off and those fitting can screw right in? Also, is that the same thing that would have to happen for the one on the block too?

Remote filter in/out will need to be tapped as well as the adaptor on the block.

So the stock adapter plate on the remote filter just has that one bolt holding it on, then it slides right off? I was afraid that they'd have to be tapped, I've never done that before....

You've got to drill and tap all 6 holes if you want to convert everything to braided; 3/8" NPT. If you are going to drill and tap your stuff, I highly suggest using a drill press with a vise to hold the pieces. Drill out the holes, then use the tap with a tap guide to make sure the tap goes in the exact way the drill did, and doesn't wobble. I tried it once with a hand held tap and screwed up one hole. If you don't have access to a drill press or milling machine, just take the stuff to a machinist; they'll whip it out in a 10 mins for probably $20.:2cents:

I think I'll just bring it to a machinist. For $20 and it's done right, I'd rather do that. The parts I'll need are (4) 45 degree -8 fittings, (4) 90 degree -8 fittings, and about 20 ft. of -8 ss line? I have ABS....but plan on taking it out this summer, so for now I'd need to 45 going out of the adapter right?

Re: Oil filter adaptor FYI.

I used (2) 45's coming out of the filter adapter as previously pictured, then on the oil filter housing, I used (2) straight fittings and (2) 90's. It can be done with (4) straight pieces and 90 degree hose ends as well, but a 90 degree hose end and straight piece are more expensive than a 90 degree piece and straight hose end. Here is a parts breakdown for you on using straight pieces, and some pics of each setup..... (and don't quote me on the $20, but it can't be that expensive at all; its real basic work for a tool maker...)

Re: Oil filter adaptor FYI.

The lines and fittings are no smaller in diameter than the stock lines, and I have never heard of anyone having oil restriction issues leading to getting rid of the stock unit. If you have, please lemme know as I'd like to read up on it. I figure unless you're one of our Top Guns going for LOW ETs, you'll be just fine with the stock housing....

Re: Oil filter adaptor FYI.

I can't go straight fittings out of the adapter to block if I still have ABS right? I think I would have to 45 out and down to the block. I read that there is sufficient flow by doing this swap, but if you're going for like 9's then you'll be restricted...

yeah probably, but why would you want that big clunky ugly ABS box there anyway?

Re: Oil filter adaptor FYI.

your right but there has been opinions that the stock oil system is restrictibe and is not the best for built motors as myself and some others have had them go boom. But on a stocker im sure u will be fine

Re: Oil filter adaptor FYI.

One of my stock Al lines had a hole in it, so I had Engines To Go in Denver put in AN lines (I think #8) on a new adaptor. Good point, I guess I should look for leaks. I also switched both oil pressure spots (stock & AM) to the remote outlet.

Lol, the answer is...I DON'T....I'm taking it out this summer when I'm home from college. I think I'll wait until then to change my oil lines also, because right now it's a really slowwww leak. It's tricklying down my fender well and leaving like 2 drops per day on the ground.

Re: Oil filter adaptor FYI.

i have talked to several guys that believe most of the engine failures as far as cranks bearings etc. Even when they turn up the power even a little, they believe as so do i that it was from not enough oil flow on stock system.they will last, but not long as this is the case that happen to my motor i believe it was from the stock sytem not flowing enough.just my 2 cents.the biggest gain is in the lines and the adapter at the block i think
