The stock radiator support was used. There are no inner fenders. That is all tubular construction. IIRC, the shell of the cab was used but the doors are fiberglass, the "frame" of the truck isn't there. It is all tubular construction with mounts welded to it. He was told to make it look as much like "factory" as possible on the outside and he did an amazing job at that.
The guy's name was Brian. Brian Coats Fabrication I think. He said if you did buy the bedsides, it's possible to "lay the shell over your bed" but it would take some work.
Oh, and I don't think the radiator is in the front either. I'm about 80% sure it was in the bed.
During the climb, they'll get clogged up with debris if it's in the front.
It's been a while but it ended up, IIRC again, that they somehow lost about 1/2 the capacity of the fuel system meaning it couldn't keep pressure up and it fell way off pace. I don't think it even finished.

OK, so it DID start life off as a syclone.

I must have misread your other comment about it not being a "syclone" per se.

Thanks for the clear-up.

Re: Pikes Peak Truck

And thats all the pics I've got of it.
These were all taken with Ronnie Redd's camera phone on a rainy overcast day I believe so dont grill me over the picture quality.

Shaun's status for the race was DNF.

I had contacted the pikes peak photo crew as well to see if they had pics of the truck running and no one could turn anything up.

Re: Pikes Peak Truck

Brain Coats Fabrication built alot of the truck. At one point they were building the cladding/body panels and selling them. I will post his contact info later.

Re: Pikes Peak Truck

Forgive me for living under a rock, but are we talking about "Pro snowboarder" Shaun Palmer?
If so a '59 caddy would be more his flavor.

yes..

I don't understand why everyone here bashes him and is taking shots at him..
He obviously likes sy/tys (rare as it is) and he just happens to be a celebrity of sorts..

don't know why everyone seems to dislike him.
