heh.... welp, usually ian drove and I hung my ass out the window... but now since my truck runs again, we took our own trucks for the first time out in like 2 years so we were both hanging our asses out the window.

lots of complements tonight.... I got out of the truck and the first guy walks straight up and asks me "how much?".....but we have lots of potential races for next week.

~80 miles or so on it so far, sounds good. Driving it to work tomorrow, might do some late night tweaking of the tune tomorrow night.

Loading it up Wednesday for Shindiggyido thingamajig.

Re: Project Never Ends

91 miles as of pulling into parking lot at work today. Engine is sounding good, a few tune issues to adress now (maybe tonight) was wanting the motor to settle in a bit before I did too much.

Slight fluid leak somewhere as seen on back window, will research where that is wednesday when it gets the first oil change and is up on Jeremy's lift.

It is not easy driving a twin turbo v8 truck around and containing your right foot to no boost. Like putting crack in front of a crack addict and saying NO don't touch.

Anybody know how to get over the withdrawl and shakes from not getting a good boost launch in when it is sitting right there?

Re: Project Never Ends

Still got oil leaks we are trying to solve. Found one last night we think was the distributor. Got more to find it appears.

Left jeremy's shop around 10pm last night. Had my 8yr old in pass seat asleep. 5 miles or so down the road I pass a cop in the median with his lights off. Shortly after I pass I see his headlights go on, not long after I see multi colored lights. WAHOO.

When I passed him I looked down and saw 60 on my speedo, speed limit 55.

He walks up to truck, I had my wallet in hand, and reg already. He said "You didn't do anything wrong, reason I pulled you over was your license plate light is out."

WTF.....

So I proceed to hand him reg. license. He said he would go check everything out and if it checked out, send me on my way.

I then remembered the tabs expired shortly after the engine got removed 2 months ago, and for some reason the BMV gave me new plates, which were of course at home with the current reg.

So I explain that to him first, figure best to tell now then him to find out on his own. Tell him truck just got going again, etc.

He comes back and said the reg didn't match the plate (realized I gave him reg. from 2002 or something, which of course didn't match last years plate. The plate on truck was not in the system at all. He asked me if I had the right plates, which I did. Explained I had ordered custom plates the BMV gave me new plates, so it was all confusing.

He just mentioned other cops might not be so nice and could tow it, and asked if I was going to get the right plate put on and said have a nice day.

Honestly so far of the maybe 3 times I have been pulled over in last 7 years, all Indiana cops have been very civil I cant complain.

Re: Project Never Ends

The cop was just getting you ready for FL when you have to explain yourself to Orlando police or FHP. :D

Jefferson Cty cops tend to not have enough time to stop people for that kind of stuff. Sounds like the cop was bored and needed something to do!

So your saying the crime rate in Ky is higher, cops are busy.

Indiana is boring on the crime front?

Yes, he honestly didn't have anything to do, was probably tired of nobody speeding past him. But he was polite, didn't flex his powers just to be a power hunger cop.

I am sure my clean driving record helped. Had he pulled my record and found pages of info I might not have gotten off as easy and without anything even written.

Re: Project Never Ends

Just seems like I've been pulled over many times for speeding, or the like and NEVER had an equipment ticket. Thats with my illegal tint, potentially illegal taillights (Back when Altezza's were on it, and considered illegal.....yea, back in '99 or so), as well as never been given a seat belt ticket either.

Wasn't really intending to comment about politeness, or the potential link to crime rates. Just seems IN cops are more likely to hand out equipment tickets and stops than cops on the sunny side of the river :D :D

Re: Project Never Ends

If I only knew how appropriate the project title would have been when this thread started.

Pulled the oil filter last night after the low oil pressure at shindig to check for debris. I don't have any good news, except if anybody would like free lessons on how to pull a twin turbo v8 out of a ty, free entertainment, and a few busted knuckles I can offer that. Your welcome to start at anytime.

Aside from any volunteers truck is going to sit for a few months. Got some other things to catch up on first.

Might pull the motor just so we can look at what is damaged, then the real question is to figure out WHY?

Jeremy and I checked everything, all bearing clearances, etc. GRRRR

Damnit... sucks to hear. Boneyard LSx in your future?
Been doin a little to my own little "never ender" lately. Focusing on brakes at the moment. Might finally get to those LS1 fronts...

Re: Project Never Ends

I would do LSx if I didn't have to redo all the headers, exhaust, etc.

Just not worth such a drastic change.

Hopefully be somewhat simple. But what is bugging me is WHY. Everything was turned down and in safe mode.

Just a thought, Jeff.... could it be an oil starvation problem cause by supplying 2 turbos? I know there are thousands of twin turbo setups out there, just haven't looked at how they're taking care of oiling needs.... :dunno:

Re: Project Never Ends

Just put in a new Milodon pump. Refused to buy a Melling.

I doubt the feeds for turbo are causing issues, as I have restictors on them so I don't think they are consuming a lot of oil. Had 75+ psi before the last run at track so who knows at this point.
