Roll bars don't need to be certified though, cages do. so basically this could be converted to a cage and certified later if I ever wanted to.

Is that better?

Saying he doesn't finish ANYTHING is a bit of a stretch guys.........I've seen him finish a value meal or two over the years.

I still say my getting it done is better than the "Hey, its such a POS lets drop it off at used car dealer!" way of finishing projects.

I did get a couple door bars bent up tonight, very happy with them. Thanks to John Gerber at nats, him and I spent more than 2 hrs discussing cage design and I took 90% of my design from what is done in his AWD ty.

No cutting of the door panels, no pinching your hands if you close the door using the arm rest handle either. I still have to cut the floor through and make the bottom mount.

Re: Project Never Ends

Just to give everyone a update. Jeff broke his Ty twice today. First was ecm wire burned up and damaged a connector.

Second one his ac delete setup shredded a accesories belt and left him stranded at a gas station.:syty:

Project never ends.................................................................................a very true statement.

Re: Project Never Ends

Truck is back and up going. Put a new belt on, made an adjustment to the alignment of belt and so far so good.

Even played with a c5 vette on freeway 60-120_ (speedo was buried) I stayed right with him. I backed down after 120+. I just put e85 in, so the tune was way off, and trans needed topped off so I was afraid to get over 50% throttle. I still felt good hanging with him with very little effort, probably 2psi of boost at most.

Time to get the e85 tune more dialed in. Still have an oil leak, looks like I am going to have to pull upper intake off.

Few little bugs but progress and motor seems to be running strong otherwise.

Re: Project Never Ends

Well as much shit as jeremy can give me, he did help me tune tonight. Put another 50 miles or so just tonight on it, IN THE DAMN RAIN.

This is after I pulled the intake off and putting new gaskets on to solve an oil leak I had even at nats. Hopefully that's gone now.

Um, when you build something like this you learn quickly to respect the right foot, kept it mild tonight just dialing in an E85 tune. Rest of week should be nice and want to get some miles driving it to work this week.

The cage is loud, annoying, I suggest unless your building a race car to NOT do one, but hey its in and I need it to race at this point legally anyways.

:rotf::rotf:I think like that most of the time. It is kind of a downfall in one way but in another, you start driving around and find things to do you didn't think of before.

A shirt for you and Jeffrey..............

Re: Project Never Ends

What if you mounted the cage to poly bushings and tabs to the frame. Not legal? My buddy's truck (off-road) is done this way and you can't hear a thing through the cage.

Not legal

It probably would never be discovered, tho if the truck isnt going to be fast enough to have to be certified. If its got to certify, you need to stay within the letter of the rules or they wont pass it.

Re: Project Never Ends

Project never ends.....o so true.

So with last years output shaft breakage and changing that out I found some internal trans issues from how it was built before. I didn't go through all the transmission just what I found, I regret that some now.

After I put it back toghether it seemed to drive ok, but no park. Last week we put it on lift, and discovered I goofed up on the parking bracket inside trans fixed that and well now reverse doesn't work.

Last night I pulled the valve body down (keep in mind Rossler just went through it 200 miles ago, updated transbrake etc.). I did find a few concerns but after putting it back in, still no reverse.

So tonight trans comes out, due to time I think my best option is let a trans expert tackle this one so running up tomorrow AM (assuming they can fit me in) to get it redone. Install back in saturday. We shall see how it goes.

Good news is the motorhome and trailer are basically ready to go, just a few minor things to finish before I leave for the open road race.

Dude - awesome work - I love your setup and tenacity! Good luck - be interested to know what's wrong with the trans.
