Rear Springs Wanted

I need a set of Bone-STOCK leaf-springs you might have removed for an "upgrade" ...hopefully not to Flex-A-Forms. Springs should have less than 50k miles on 'em and preferably off an "adult-driven" Syclone.

Remember, I could get a brand-new equivalent set for under $200, delivered from JCW, so be reasonable. I'm practically broke!

Just buy the new set. What you would pay for shipping due to weight and size wouldnt be worth a used set.

Too far to WALK to the Land of Fruits and Nuts!

Why not just bag & tag 'em? Do you PlayPal?
How many miles of beating have they absorbed?

You are CORRECT, sir! And that's looking to be what's gonna happen in the end.

However, if I can get the STRENGTH and the STANCE I need at a break-even cost, why not stay "authentic"?

you DID NOT stay "authentic" with the flex-a-forms. What does it MATTER now?

DESPERATION!

Gotta get back on the road before the groceries run out!!

Again, cost and speed of installation are the pacing criteria....
Plus a hatred of having to pay for the same "real estate" twice... which is why I'm still burnt-up over those composites. With all the meticulous shopping and research I typically do I never expected those stupid springs to just FAIL like that... on the driveway overnight!!!

Then BUY your $200 set if you NEED it quick. WAITING for someone to ship old ones will take MORE time

You can have the 'Forms off my Typhoon! If you have the nerve... and a few coins... maybe we can SWAP spring-sets right now!!

They've got less than 50 miles on 'em-- all adult-driven city/highway-- and have been up on jackstands since 2004-- not even a month after they were installed... nice, Cadillacy ride too!

Otherwise, I woulda swapped 'em onto the 'Clone last week!

I'm SCARED of those blasted things and don't mind saying so. I'm also scared of re-re-doing work on fancy parts that are not bought as consumables!

Re: Rear Springs Wanted

ty sy springs are not the same as far as I know
Nothing's "identical." Even all those Belltechs everyone drives around are really designed for S-10s, and S-15s.

But, aren't we talking CLOSE ENOUGH?

I bought those 'Forms from deceased George specifically for the Radar-Blue 'Phoon; they went in like they had eyes-- spring-eyes! With the same basic dimensions and weight capacity as for Syclones, they'd likely be as adaptable in ANY such vehicle with a minimal amount of Hulk-grappling.

I think that sy and ty springs are different lengths. maybe i am thinking of something else.

They are the same length, but they have different spring rates. The problem is that Ty spring will jack a Syclone rear up even higher thn already jacked up ride factory ride height. Belltech work because it is almost a flat spring when install anyways, so the srping rate doesn't matter as much (I imagine it's a stiffer spring rate than stock).

Re: Rear Springs Wanted

think the ty springs will give a sy a lift kit look
A li'l extra lift wouldn't be so bad. Would save me from rebuilding the cladding should I ever lose that front-differential again... when all the torque goes to the rear wheels and the axle wraps up and the right-rear wheel hops like a bunny and commits assault & battery on the cladding!! Having extra-wide/tall tires (Pirelli 255s) doesn't help matters either.

Since I got rid of those juvenile lowering-blocks I've never been so happy! Better ride quality and no more busted fender-flares! Plus extra payload capacity... for that one day in the future I actually put more than tires or groceries in the bed....

Why don't you just buy used 4x4 S-10 spring if you don't mind the 4x4 look. Sy Spring are only 1" maybe 1.5" lower than the stock 4x4. You could also borrow the springs from your Typhoon if your really in cash pinch. (it would atleast give you an idea how it will look)

Unfortunately, I tossed the old Typhoon springs-- evidence of my confidence in Flexies being the very last such springs I'd ever have to bother with for the rest of the vehicle's lifetime! Confidence I only now realize was MISPLACED... too late... can't get in my time-machine and go back 6 years to fix things....

The only swap-out springs I have on site are those virgin Flexies, which increasingly I do not trust, especially on a vehicle which MAY again decouple the FWD (and get all that destructive wheel-hop) or may be pressed into utilizing that Class 3 frame-hitch I put on the Syclone a decade ago. I need STRENGTH and RELIABILITY....

Re: Rear Springs Wanted

In my OPINION you are a retard for having a tow hitch on you syclone. I can see it now, your towing something, the truck breaks, then you get on here complaining about gmc making a faulty product. Even though the manual CLEARLY says, 500lb weight limit for the bed and NO towing. And on that note too, if you were planning on towing something, why the hell would you get fiberglass leafsprings?

And I will repeat what myself and someone else already stated. Go to the junk yard and get springs. You already said you don't care if it's "lifted" a little. There is only so much complaining you can do before you have to just get out there and fix the problem.
