Re: Wrenchfest 2014

whats the deal with this? Is this only open to people who are going to the carlisle event (I can't make that)

If not, what if someone sucks at wrenching (like myself). My starter has chewed up my flex plate and everything sounds like ass when it starts. And my truck sucks at starting, I think i have the purple wire issue. Is this something that could be taken care of on saturday so I can drive it again? Or is this more of bring your tools, here's a lift, go at it, we are here if you have questions? I have no problem pitching in, just cant stand my truck sitting.

Re: Wrenchfest 2014

It's too close to the end of my work year and not close enough to Carlisle for me to consider it crunch time. Going to have to pass unfortunately, I would come out and just hang but that would take away time from either wrenching on the truck here or working on my house.

This wrench session is open to anyone who wants to come! Whether you need help, just want to see some friends or their trucks, meet new people, ask some questions, etc. You don't have to be attending Carlisle to come.

There will be plenty of helping hands ready, willing, and able to help out. There will be lots of knowledge and experience there, and also people that know how to spin wrenches.

If your truck is simply a purple wire issue, then yes that's something that can be taken care of. Even if you needed to swap out your flex plate and starter, that's a few hour job give you have the right stuff and your truck doesn't fight too hard, not a full day or 2.

Re: Wrenchfest 2014

I see missing gears on my flex plate, i might as well get a new starter so I don't have more issues. Is there an upgraded flex plate I should buy? Link? If I can get these parts in soon enough I'm definitely in. I have the battery relocation kit from RPM on my truck. Ever since that was installed the truck sucks at starting like not enough juice is making it to the starter. Is there anything else I should need to order beside the flex plate? I'm ready to make another donation to the site!

Re: Wrenchfest 2014

I've reserved a truck/trailer to haul my truck down soooo please change my status to definately going.

List of stuff: flexplate, starter, purple wire, adjustment of intercooler piping for piping that goes to i/m (hood rubs top of piping) hence the reason I'm not driving it down.

not too much to choose from in the flexplate world. You might as well 'upgrade' to an sfi-approved one though. Buy a starter too if you plan on replacing that. There are smaller/slightly lighter starters out there if you care about that sort of thing. Having some extra wire to replace the purple wire if it's burnt would be helpful.

There is an Autozone, Advance Auto and NAPA pretty close to the shop, so we'll be able to make parts runs if/when needed. Walmart is a 10min drive. I'd say bring anything you think you need or have on hand.

Re: Wrenchfest 2014

Attendees and wrenching projects list updated in 1st post.

Everything looks doable so far....well except for completing the sy motor install. Sy381 isn't 100% sure he can get all his engine parts ready by then and get his truck there.

Don't let the list of projects scare you away...there are some good wrench twirlers in the list that will be there with no projects of their own to work on.

Can we make it a week long wrenchfest? I'll bring my truck and with everything I have. With everybody working, could possibly get it done in a week.

I'm going to go out on a limb and speak for everyone here and say no. You could bring it and get 2 solid days of wrenching on it though. That should amount to getting you much closer at least.
