i am by no means a lawyer, but here is how i understand it to be.
telling your opinion that he is an ass hole, is opinion, and is not illegal.
telling about the facts of your case is giving info to potential customers, and is not illegal.
libel is telling something you have no direct involvement in, or cannot prove, to do damage to someones business, this kind of thing is illegal.

NEVER said he didn't have the right to sale them. I have been very careful as to NOT cause myself any legal issues. If in fact the OP did get the short end of the stick, i feel for ya man. But do something productive rather then slander someone on a website. As far as i can tell angry posts wont clear up the monatary issues here. Once there is a lawsuit won, or some other solid evidence this will be taken to the doghouse.

1. You said the motor is in 100% perfect condition and made a 200+ mile drive. Then why the hell would YOU agree to take it apart?

2. You said quote time for build is 3 months. that is quite a bit of time. But did you ever step back and actually look at the condition of the truck you were buying? That thing was JACKED. For YEARS I used it as my own personal parts truck. Any time i couldn't find a misc part i took it off that truck. One look at that thing when you bought it should have told you it would be awhile.

Common sense trumps everything, use it.

I pulled it for a few reasons. I have had a sponsorship with them. I do not pay for labor and Josh and myself so all the work after hours. We just do not get enough done in a timely fashion so i wasn't happy with that. Also, stories like yours began to wear on me. I have stuck up for them when i felt they were in the right but this is becomming to often when once is really too much.

Also, while i was there yesterday (6 hours) Josh and I did discuss you quite a bit. He knows where you are coming from and i mentioned the parts stuff as well. He did assure me that those were your block and heads he is certian of that fact. Not the pistons though.

Being in Indiana you have alot of good people around you, take advantage of that. I am sorry my opinions may have lead you to this situation and i honestly feel quite bad about it. I myself do not drink but if I get a chance i would like to buy you a few.

Also, for what its worth, Guy and I have been friends for years, before i was even a customer. He doesn't even return my calls or asknowledge me anymore.... quite nice eh?

Yes, I bought a basket case, from a self proclaimed professional SyTy Builder/guru who said he had every part to put it back together with in 3 months. Forgive me for thinking I would get what I was promised from some one who was in GMHTP and seemed like a really nice stand up person.

Hindsight is 20/20, I have learned a lesson about business, money and most of all people.

Oil leak is fixed and cleaned up no thanks to Guy.

I am not crying about anything, I am perfectly content with my own situation which is the only situation I give real thought to. People should not be concerned with anything other than their own.

I would have believed him if I was you, I can't fault you for that. But once 3 months came and went you did nothing, years went by and you did nothing. Then made it a big deal. If its a big deal it is from the beginning, that is not an overnight change.

Should it have been completed sooner? Hell yea
Did your actions in any form help that happen? Hell no
Did your actions if anything slow it down as you aggravated the only people who can completed? Yes

building a vehicle is no different than anything else in life. You will get out of it what you put into it. You put into it a bad attitude and aggravation. That is what you got in return.

As for my comment on me taking parts, again not my concern. I needed a bolt, asked where I could get it, I was told the answer and I got my bolt. Nothing removed was worth more than $2. Send me a bill if you so choose.

You say the oil leak is fixed like its an accomplishment. It is only fixed because you got yelled at on this board after you yourself said that you had been driving on that very same link for a long extended period of time. You were told the truck would eventually catch fire, which is only then you had the leak fixed.

Another board owner has gone through 8 turbos and 2 motors in the last 2 years. Neither of the motors lasted more than 15 minutes. Obviously something is being more than likely done wrong in the build as most of the parts were replaced between builds.

At no point has this owner gotten loud, cursed out, prank called, or harassed the shop owners wife.
Maybe that is why it is being worked out and talked about so a solution for both sides may be found.

Do you think this shop (not a vendor on here but have built board members motors) would have worked with this owner if he has done any of the things you two gentlemen have done?

That is my overall point. I don't care about the situation and all that. It about how you handled it that is part of the reason it has gotten to where it has.

Yeah I fixed it after people helped me, not yelled at me. Thanks to Rick Waller and his SyTy CD.

You say I did nothing after 3 months.. far from it, I got the parts he said he couldn't get. I offered my help in any way. I asked for consistent communication and got nothing near that. All I really needed was a good HONEST explanation, I most likely would have been pissed but understand and be willing to work him. Instead he clammed up, gave me the run around. Only logical I wanted to know what he was doing with my truck and my money. You call it harassment and aggravation, I call it making sure I got something back.

I put in a bad attitude.. How many people do you know give someone 12.5k to build them their dream truck and have a bad attitude. The "bad attitude" was created by GUY REFFET at ROCKFORD RACECRAFT for poor business dealings with me.

As for the person who hasn't complained.. good for them I don't care. I tried for 2 years to give Reffet the benefit of the doubt. Didn't work for me.

This seems to have turned into one big convoluted bitch session and people just need to put out there what they were intending to say from post one. Your advising people to not do business with this company from an opinion you formulated from your dealings with them.

My story with Rockford is not a great one either. I took my poorly running Sy to them to figure out a couple years back. XFI needed tuned and truck just was not running right (Slower then my civic). So after waiting a year and paying 1500.00 I get my truck back which in my opinion was not really running any different than when I gave it to them. Yes, Guy was very difficult to get in touch with most times via telephone, so I resorted to email which seemed to work better. They were nice to me, never assholes, but ultimately I still spent a sizable sum of cash on labor and saw no result. My second line of work is on computers and I cannot fathom charging a customer for a computer that has not been improved. My conclusion was this, maybe the work was beyond their time/skill capacity, or maybe I just got took by a shady shop. Either way I decided to seek out somebody who was recommended by members on this forum (should have done this in the first place), which I did and hopefully will get the Sy up to Scott in March if everything works out ok.

I feel your financial pain, but name calling (on all of your parts, real mature too) and posting PM's will not accomplish what you intend, and may in fact hurt it as people will tire of the pettiness thereby not understanding your plight . As far as the Libel deal, that is so laughable to threaten with as it is very, very difficult to prove damages and easy to utilize the opinion defense which also neuters the case.

This was my dealings with said vendor, my opinions, and my 2 cents worth.

Hate to see these kind of threads on the board. Really detracts from what the board is all about. But if what is said in any % is true, than warning others of potential problems is a big plus. I see this type of scenario as this. See it a lot with bodyshops, custom car shops of all sorts. You drop the vehicle, with a downpayment for work to begin. And from day one you are behind the eight ball hoping for a finished product. We all aren't mechanics or body guys, etc. When I was young my dad taught me to work on everything myself. Am able to do about anything on a vehicle without anyones help. If I had to resort to a shop to work on any of my things, would drive me to drinking. Being in business for myself, know all too well how frustrating it is waiting for something to be finished. Calls not returned, emails, etc.

I have had my truck at RR for a while but as most I have been upset for the wait even know I was told there was a wait due to jobs in front of mine. I admit that I jumped to conclusions with RR but after I actually talked to Guy about my situation after I posted my situation here I relized I was wrong and I was the one that was aware of the wait. I since have been patient and have been in weekly contact with Guy and since have had my project started by RR in the line after trucks that were in front of mine were completed. I know I had made threats I was gonna take my truck and get my money back but I was reminded my truck is gonna get done but there were other customers ahead of me. I see the only mistake Guy made was taking too many jobs on at a time. But when a customer gets a shop in mind and the shop says there is a wait the customer is fine with it until there truck is not started in a time they want and not being patient then anxiety kicks in and then this thread starts. On my part Guy told me up front about the wait and I started to get worried but as of as month ago my project is well underway only because I had patience and kept my truck at RR. Im in contact with Guy on a weekly basis. In my situation w RR if Guy told me my project would be done with no wait I would have reason to be upset but since I was told there was gonna be a wait I quess I cant be upset. I know other peoples situations differ from mine with RR but at this point Guy has not done me wrong in the 12 years I have done buisness with Guy and being that this isnt the only project Guy has done for me (the first all out build) I have been satisfied with all work Guy has done currently and past. Guy has done jobs on my ssei bonneville buick gs, 20th Anniversary TTA, and other jobs Guy is my regular mechanic if I have a problem w my daily drivers, Guy even went to court for me on my first Typhoon 12 years ago with a aftermarket warrenty company issue that Guy made no money on. This is just my situation please Im not on here alot due to my job and four kids so if anyone wants to quote and respond with negative feedback thats up to you but dont expect a reply I just want everyone to know where I stand.

I have been following this since day one. Lets be adults about this! It is very poor business practice to call your past or present customers names. It makes the besiness owner look like an uneducated low life, its a good way to skare off new cutomers!
I have said this in the past; if anyone is going to spend alot of money on anything, they should/need to get EVERYTHING in writting, ALL details!!! (how much time, how much money, what ifs, contact info, and one last thing; USE A CREDIT CARD that way you would have some protection.

At this point it seams like a lawyer needs to get involed.
