Selling Wife's TY Is Becoming Appealing

TYTILIDIE

METH HEAD
We're all set to have our baby boy in October. This has inspired me to ask the question, is having two Typhoons really worth it? First off, my wife's Ty has been a pretty good truck. Of course, I don't drive it so that is likely why. One thing that bothers me about the Typhoon is that there isn't much in the way of seating. When we have the baby there will be four of us and we often have my niece which would make 5. The wife is open to get rid of it even though she just adores her truck (although she cleans the damn thing) but she wants something snappy. She makes the fuss that she has never owned a "normal" car and she isn't willing to.

First she says she wants the Porsche Cayenne Turbo:rotf: Yeah if we had 99k laying around maybe. Thats not happening anytime soon. For the last two years we have looked at the TBSS and we really like it but when it came time to work on it I'd be lost. Thing is, I doubt I would have to work on it much. Though her Ty seldom has issues when it does she calls me on the phone like she bought it from me with a warranty screaming. I'd just assume not deal with it at this point.

So the question is this, is it worth it to have something (owned) that I can work on with ease and for little money or is it a better idea to have something newer that wont need work all the time but costs more?

My girlfriends car is the only car I've ever bought the warranty AND service plan for.

Being able to have her drop the car off at the dealer and get a rental anytime anything that comes up is priceless. I consider it an investment in my happiness.

My ex-wife has a trailblazer, not an SS but still, it is nice and roomy with the baby seat in it. You can't beat the joy of a newer vehicle with a service plan. Daily driving a hot rod is a tough deal and that really is what our trucks are nowadays. If it is possible I would think about keeping the Ty because they are only going to go up in value and get something newer for the family ride.

My opinion:
Keep your TY
Sell her TY
Get a TBSS.

You shouldn't have to work on it much (as long as you don't mod it up) and even if you do it's not like you wouldn't be able to figure it out. She will be happy with it. It has more room and luxuries than a 20 year old SUV.

Are the TBSS 4WD/AWD? Just asking because they live in CO.

My son really enjoys riding the the Ty since he gets a good view compared to our Grand Cherokee. 3 would be tight in the back seat but if the car ride isnt too long those kiddos would be okay (they adapt anyway).

Sell the Typhoon as its running so its a perfect time to get rid of it! ;)

Had a TBSS for a daily and it was a great truck in the winter and the best tow vehicle I have ever had. Didn't like the fuel mileage of the 4.10's so I would try to find one with 3.73's as you could probably get 20mpg cruising down the highway at 75mpg.

One shitty thing on the TBSS is if the ignition switch ever goes out it doesn't have a shift interlock release switch to take the truck out of gear. Also make sure there are provisions to keep rock chips off the rear fender.

LS2 is easy to mod and has a huge aftermarket so modding can be fun again.

Keep one Ty and get a TBSS. You can have the best of both worlds that way.
