I think when choosing at fast et level, you have consider the vehicle. Only 2 awd Syclone's have run 9's with stock block; no typhoon has. Only one AWD 4L60 transmision has run 9's. No AWD V6 typhoon has run's 9's. Only one stock short-block syclone has run 10's. Pretty much every 10 sec SyTy is expensive. Maybe you could up the qualifications to 9's for 2wd/v8 variations.

Remember when Hoover went 9.005 in 100 degrees at Nats? Everybody was hoping for an 8 second run.I was standing right beside Doc when Matt took off and he said "There it is"

That was glorious. So close. And just missed.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

How about a "10 sec" banner for anybody that can prove it seperate from the "SyTy Big Gun" banner?

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

How much nitrous were you running on your GTO?

200 shot. The car ran 10's on just motor, weighed around 3900lbs and still had a 4l60e trans and foot brake. My syclone weighed 3440 all stock but haven't weighed it since I did the coil overs and a/c delete but either way is lighter then the gto was.

There are vids of the car all over youtube going from cam only all the way to the stroker motor with nitrous and n/a runs. If you look up the gto shootout in florida I think there are a few vids of it we when had the chute on. Built it to run a 300+ shot but a guy in NY wanted to buy it before I ever got to spray the 300 down the 1/4.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

Dunno if a separate thread is applicable for this 10.99 chit-chat (but here goes)..
  • Ask MikeW (the owner of a Nissan GT-R) about the "so called advantages"
as the factory doesnt make modding, racing, or launching of one as easy as some
folks think (and also see which of his vehicles he thinks is faster cost-wise).
------------------- Really because almost all of them come with a launch control built in from the factory and even the old guys from auto week where able to lauch a gtr just fine. HmmmSY #2364
    1992 Aspen TY #0954(sold)
1987 Bucik GN lots of mods
2010 Camaro SS, 89 IROC Convt.
    2010 Nissan GT-R
    2009 CTS-V

  • Why compare 10.99 in a 20 year old truck to a new car?
    - Any new SRT Dodge Rams routinely run this et?
    - How about an older Ford Lightning?
    - Even most TBSS probably arent into single digits with LS engines (so easy??)
So its still a good milestone.

Et is Et regardless of year or style of vehicle, you can compare anything- case in point there are prob more 10 sec street driven 90 era hondas then total number of syty big guns
  • When benchracing its a bit unfair to compare 2WD
GTRs, Vipers, Corvettes, Shelbys, Cameros and GTOs (which are cars and
"should be faster" to AWD Typhoon's/Syclones.

Hmm well looking at the past years of many of those cars the syty's have been pretty close to the same et as many of those cars run from the factory so why not compare them= atleast the camaro's, mustangs ect. To me 10 second car is a 10 second car regardless if it's a truck, van or car. Just thought it was worth saying that we call 10's big guns when they are the norm for just about ever other car forum to include 4 banger hondas lol.

Re: should BMFB be a big gun??

Check his sig...200 shot, which is what I was guessing before I even saw it. My buddy use to have a 200 shot on his too. Now MIXEDBREED has other things done to his GTO as well, most of which I imagine is listed in his sig also.

I'm gonna say $80K car, with probably another $40K in mods...call it $120!

Cam

My gto was just a old 6.0 iron block from a truck and factory unported ls3 heads/ factory unported vette intake and stock throttle body with a MTI camshaft, a built 4l60e and foot brake. I ran street legal tires too, Oh and the nitrous. 100 % stock susp and a set of bmr drag bags. I have more into the syclone motor then what I spent building the gto lol. - But i did get some of the gto parts for free from some old racing buddies that just happen to have stuff in there shop. It;s alittle harder to find the syclone stuff around here.

The orig ls2 motor was sold to a guy in texas that put it in a van a ran 10's with a 150 shot and just a cam lol.

Why? Think about it...if the forum starts that, every Joe is gonna be coming on this site wanting recognition and every Harry that is a member is gonna want a special moniker to identify his/her achievement.

How about a "Broke x2" banner for every member whose truck has been broke for over a year. "Broke x2" would identify the truck as broke and the owner broke (most likely) as well. All these special interest banners take precious time from someone to keep up with all the nonsense. "Big Guns" was a great idea.....let's leave it there

:rotf: I want a brokex1 banner lol. Truck is broke but I have plenty of money just not the time to always work on it. To many projects I guess.

1. I think you guys use poor techniques for arguing and often appear foolish.
2. I like the broken truck achievement idea.
