Obfuscation is being willfully ambiguous. Alex's usage of it isn't entirely appropriate as I'm not sure anyone is trying to intentionally confuse the group, but yeah, you get his drift. Obfuscation is common among doctors, lawyers, computer technicians, etc... to confuse someone else with misleading or cryptic jargon so as to impress, conceal information, or befuddle.

Thanks Hood, but I do feel some are trying to rationalise the decision why to allow a rule modificatiin. Might have chosen a better word if I had less Vodka and more sleep today.

I think Hood just said that alex obfuscated the forum by misusing the word 'obfuscation.'

I vote no based on the rule it has to be sy/ty.

However, he should probably be given the ability to post in the private big gun forum anyway. I don't know what's in the forum as I'm not a big gun, but I imagine anyone who runs 10.99 or better with a brick like ours would find it useful and be able to provide useful info as BMFB has done

How about a compromise, Rusty knockoff that kics ass big gun.

I am still waiting to get my ".15 seconds from being a big gun, but still just an idiot" title.

Well I know what my Big Gun truck is going to be now. SGT that is a total ragged POS for a few hundred bucks (for the VIN, of course!), GM V8 (LS, SBC, BBC, wtf ever), built tranny, nitrous (and tons of it, maybe a 300 shot), truck completely stripped to nothing that doesn't make it run, and some big ass meaty drag tires! I will only have a couple grand total POS, but I will be a BG!!!

In that case, the usage was entirely correct. Carry on brotha.

Not to add another variable to this already "cluster-f*cked" thread, but assuming we nail down a set guideline on BG qualifications (regardless of what that might be), how do we treat ownership? Once a BG always BG (even if you sell? even if you bought a 10sec truck, owned for 3 months and sold?)?

I say it stays with the truck. Adds a little more flare and value to it. Then if you want the bg back just build another truck :)

How about the person who makes the 10-second (or quicker) pass gets the title for life? That way if you buy a 10-second truck, you at least have to run it with some sort of precision to get the title.
I realize that has little to do with building the truck, but very few of these trucks are built by just one person.

lets just make big gun mean 10.5 or faster.

and then once he hits that, we'll make big gun 10.0 or faster.

That's how the government would handle this.

If they sell the truck, they are no longer a big gun. Its a 10 second truck, not a 10 second person (unless we ask their wife). Furthermore, the big gun title should not automatically transfer over. I feel the new owner must complete a 10 second pass and provide proof of their own to claim it back.

To keep up the excitement , a yearly or bi-yearly renewal time seems fair . A one and done , never to be raced on the track again would water down the exclusivity of the prestigious Big Gun title . ;)

They'd show up and start taking parts off the truck to give to slower trucks.

I see no reason for an individual to have to annually renew their BG status since priorities in life change and interests. Just because someone decides to go boating all year and not race their truck shouldn't mean they lose their status.

Additionally, I am in the crowd of this is a syty site and achievements should be reserved for syty's.
