Re: Sonoma GT 0334 - Build Pics

Good Morning All,

I want to thank Guy at Rockford Racecraft for getting my Rods & Pistons for my Motor. I dropped off the Block, Camshaft, Timing Chain & Cover and the Balancer (thank John Waller). So we could get started building the motor.

Dave was only able to spend a couple hours on the truck last week. So not much was done. He was able to get the bracing started behind the dash for the steering column, brake pedal and the vintage air. We are going to put tabs on the rod so we can anchor the wire harness to it to keep the underside of the dash clean.

You can see how nice the column comes through the firewall. Trying to keep it as clean as possible. We also lowered it about an inch to gain the needed header clearence.

Here is the start of the new dash surround.

Here is the 2nd attempt - three 3 3/8 guages with four 2 1/16 guages

Here is the third template - three 3 3/8 guages with two 2 1/16 guages & 2 5/8 guages. Guy at Rockford Racecraft was kind enough to lend me some guages to play with. I plan to make some more mock up dashes tommorow night.

Ahhhhh... The stuff dreams are made of! Namely, your truck! Looking forward to the day I can use a picture of the finished Syborg as my computer wallpaper.

Man, I need to get back and finish my photochop of your dash. Had some ideas when I started it, now I need to see if I can remember what those ideas were.

Looking good!

Marty, I'm not trying to tell you how to build your truck but that set of guages and the cluster look alot like cardboard to me. You're not running out of cash and trying to save a few pennies on the instruments are you?

Without door handles be hard to reach inside to turn them on anyways.
