It might not be as effective as a intake tubing mounted BOV, but it does work :squint:
And JJ sucks arse... :rotf:

I could potentially see a blower on this truck ;) ... but then again, 250hp and 185 series tires is probably sufficient for a daily type truck  (besides, I'm not so sure I could use catepillar parts on my car  )

i take it youre putting larger brakes on it. what kind are they and what mods does it take to make them work?

They're late model blazer/jimmy 2wd (98+) .... no mods required whatsoever, bolts right on. They're 11" dual piston, the discs are probably 25% thicker too. I bought them from S10WAREHOUSE on ebay for $225, they have 70k but the pads still have plenty of meat left so I'm leaving them be for now.

good find now if you want to do vetter brakes you only have to buy the cbr brackets. good mod.

thanks for that tidbit. i would like to put f body brakes on mine, but i dont know what kind of fabbing that it would require. and the kit from cbr only works with 4wd, so im trying to weigh out all options. plus i can probly get the blazer stuff pretty cheap. thanks again.

How can I jack my own thread? And besides, you only inherited that belt, you didn't come up with the plan :p

I changed my name to jack mine but it isn't working out too well. The name changed on all of my posts so I'm still not technically jacking my threads yet.

A note to you guys running 2wd, and wanting to swap to larger brakes.

There is a guy on s-seriesofrum.com that sells a conversion bracket that lets you bolt C5 rotors, and calipers to the '98+ blazer spindle setup pictured above. He goes by Ed Miller, and has a sticky in the brake section on that board with tons of good info.

I just purchased a set of those exact same brakes for my Xtreme (the ones above, not the C5's), and was working on them this weekend. I'm going to be getting the lines recreated in braided stainless later this week. PM me if you want me to get a second set made while I'm at it for your setup. I have no idea on the price though.

My lines are just fine, but the hardlines on my chassis are toast, so that is priority one :(

Re: Sonoma GT 519 - the rebuild saga (picture intense)

Back at school so I'm in parts gathering mode. Having some trouble finding a flywheel, of course. Aside from that and brake lines, I have just about everything I need to finish this truck either at home or in the mail.

So, it's looking like spring break at the latest for it to be driveable and in one piece again. Depending on what my summer assignments are I may not end up getting it inspected until October.
I'll probably be painting it somewhere in there too.

Re: Sonoma GT 519 - the rebuild saga (picture intense)

**UPDATE**
Today my brother and I yanked the short block from the GT. The correct motor is shipping out monday and I have a flywheel and starter on the way so I should be golden and on the road again for the spring.
The nearest I can figure out, the truck was run for a considerable while with very bad or very little (or both) oil in it, plus it's likely that the oiling was considerably restricted by that mashed gasket in the oil filter.
short block coming out

Yes, they are surgical gloves. Great for working on trucks, especially when you want to stop and take pictures without having to scrub your hands every time

And I did pull the motor with the hood on. I bet I could probably have done it with the heads on too but they are long since in a box under the truck

There weren't any big surprises inside when we took it apart... that motor was long since toast and it was letting everybody know  ... the loose rod was a surprise though
