Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

I'm fairly young, so I work at a car wash/detail called Waterway. I pulled one off the line yesterday to the drying spot and I thought, "This is one of those SRT-8's eh... I'll test the throttle." I eased down slightly and the rear started to fish so I let off right away and coasted to the spot. My manager started taking phone pictures while it was parked, and everyone was checking it out. Probably one of the nicer cars to come through, though we get a interesting variety of pimped out crapmobiles, trashy minivans, and brand new BMWs & Mercedes.

They do look nice I must say!

(though, I'd still rather have a Typhoon  )

OK, I saw a Porshe SUV today that was a Turbo, and does anyone know how that monster runs? It looked pretty darn mean.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

I believe the news ones are somewhere in the low 13's although I could be wrong. You dont hear too much about them I imagine because its a Porshe, not an american truck/suv. I love it when I smoke someone in their $40-50k car/truck with my Ty that cost me less than $15k with the parts I have included

I'd venture to say that that Porsche was more than 50-60$. I'd say $70 bills with the Turbo.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo runs about 90K and it's supposed to run to 60 in 5.6. Don't know what the quarter mile time is for it but it does top out at about 165mph. There is a Cayenne Turbo S scheduled for 2007 which up's the HP from 450 for the Cayenne Turbo to 530 for the Cayenne Turbo S so we'll have to wait and see what it's times look like.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

Well i saw an GC SRT-8 for the first time yesterday on my way to my local HASTE club meeting and pulled along side and he didnt want to run at all. I was hoping hed have a go at it, but maybe next time.

Nice looking ride, but for that kind of money id save myself a few bucks and buy the TBSS and do a couple mods and smoke the GC.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

There is a video of a SRT GC that has Hennessey turbo kit on it that makes about 600 HP. It runs a 12.2. Several videos of the SRT GC on streetfire.net looks like they don't launch nearly as hard as our trucks do.

They do look great. I still love my little black box that will thrash those up and down the street all night.

I read their website and I think their stock ECM, has some type of cutback on brake torquing. They claim the best times are just hammering the gas and going and slow down if you brake torque them off the line :squint:

That doesn't sound like much fun. Then why AWD for the SRT8 GC? Maybe they are trying to save the tranny's?

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

lol @ the 9.03 1/8th mile time for the stock Typhoon, why not try 8.5-6's with 1.7 60 fts.

I was about to say..... 9.0s in the 1/8th seems really high considering I could lay down low low 8's in my 1st stock sy consistantly.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

I ran a 13.1@104 bone stock in my jeep srt 8. Mine is fully loaded and i paid 44,500. I still love the look of my ty but if i was taking a 500 mile trip id be driving the jeep over the ty, ist just alot tighter and way more comfortble. Not to mention all the modern creature comforts Nav,Bluetooth, video and heated seats ect. Its not as exciting to drive ass the turbo ty but 450 hp and shit loads of tourqe an't so bad. Theres a bunch of guys with heads and cam upgrades running in the low 12s allready and there is no way to tune these trucks yet. Once the come up with a tuning system id say youll be seeing lots of 11 sec trucks.

I have had my GC SRT-8 for almost two months. When looking to buy, Chicago area dealers were asking 10K over sticker. I live in Indy where they are asking 5K over sticker. I did a lot searching on Jeep's website and found dealers in central Indiana with the trucks in stock selling at MSRP.

I mentioned in another thread my Typhoon is faster than the SRT however the Ty is not bone stock.

I have noticed that on alot of the chrysler line, they wont rev very high when in park or "N" even if you hold the pedal all the way down, same when on the brake in Drive, but my techs say you can turn that feature off within the ecm but no one here has had it done yet.

Rich, if I can convince the wife that I need a different car for no reason other than I have car disease, I maybe interested in another SRT. Where are you located? Which dealer?
