2 days in Stuttgart, hoping to go to Mercedes and Porsche.

11th Stuttgart GER - Sankt (St) Anton AUS (195 miles) (10 days skiing)

21st Head back home to Glasgow UK arrive home 23rd.

So wish me luck gents, I plan to post pics along the way so come back see as time goes on.

Driving the Sy all that way?

Best of luck if you are for sure!

I second that, I hope you have SAE sockets as well as metric. Hopefully you won't need them. Sounds fun though. I'd love to drive on the Autobahn, especially in a Sy/Ty

Not planning on going too mad, we are loaded with two's up bodies and two's up gear + tools and stuff so it will be a cruise while we take in the scenery. Maybe on the way home  might be a bit more brave

Re: Sy #2101 European Road Trip 2009

So this is an update with a few pics.

We have done these sections already.

Glasgow to Newcastle

Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry

And yesterday the section we did was the longest Amsterdam to Stuttgart.

The truck looks a bit different from when we left home but no problems so far.

This was my truck when i got it.

This was it after our first bit of the trip !

The truck is not so clean and shiny anymore.

I will add some more pics as we go, tomorrow is the last leg of the trip.

Cheers Guys

Re: Sy #2101 European Road Trip 2009

This is cool! it must cost you a fortune in gas though!

Not so bad so far just filled up twice. I seem to be getting more MPG fully loaded and with twos up ?? Probably I just drive a bit easier when someone else is in the truck with me.

One thing I was surprised about was how much more expensive gas is in europe compared with UK. Partly because of the euro excahnge rate.

NL to Stuttgart in one day...doable I suppose - wouldn't want to do it in a Syclone.

Watch the high speed runs. Head gaskets tend to blow.

I wonder if you would get better gas mileage and put less strain on the engine if you took out the front propshaft and just went RWD for this trip?

Stuttgart is awesome. I hardly remember it. :)

The average speed on the autobahns (out of the left lane) was ~140km/hr, so it shouldn't be a problem. Watch for the photo radar in the 50 zones, the rental company actually traced us all the way back to Canada and made us pay them.

Otherwise, have fun! My favorite beer while there was called Erdinger Weissbeer. Awesome!

We arrived yesterday lunchtime and have had no problems on the way down to St Anton. Maybe the first Sy in St Anton ?? Maybe some of the Austrian or european forum members have been before ??

Just have to do it all again on the way back but I have 10 days of skiing to look forward to until then
