If you looked into an electric water pump you could 90* away from the x-over

Paul, It's looking good. That water pump / exhaust does look to be a problem. Back in the old days they use to make some spacers that would make the water pump stand out as much as 1/2" and then they would find another pulley to bring the belts back inline. But that doesn't look like it will work here.

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

Mine is very similar as far as clearances are concerned with ac. I dont have the header water pump issue since I have ported factory manifolds. You need to figure out what you are going to do to wrap or cover the downpipe and turbo now. Its not easy to cover them after. The turbo wraps are hard to get on later. The stainless custom covers that are being fabricated would be very easy to test fit now. Id install the wrap or cover as you install the turbo.

Looks very nice.

Thanks again. I am going to have all of the hot parts ceramic coated and i may used the 600* diamond clear on the one accessory bracket. A exhaust housing cover may also sound like a good deal too. Ill do some toying with the idea.

That is one idea, however this is being built as a daily driver and i am still up in the air in regards trusting an electric water pump for daily duty. The problem needs to be fixed so it will work as it was advertised.

I thought of that but i think Mike will fix her up and make it work.

Hey guys, I removed all of the rear suspension and driveline yesterday. I will remove all of the front suspension and driveline in a few weeks. Then its time to start coating the frame and putting everything back together. Pics to follow shortly.

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

Some new updates. I have decided not to paint my entire frame as i looked at it again and its in real good shape. I counted one or two spots of surface rust that i am going to take care of. It still has all of the origional GM frame coating on it. Got to love a Cali. truck :)
So i am in process of painting my A arms and putting new bushings and ball joints on them, modifying and painting the front spidles for front 13" C5 brakes, painting and installing rear discs and rear end girdle on my stock rear end.
So once i am done with all of my painting and suspension stuff i will get the motor, trans, and all of the suspension stuff installed.
Stay tuned for updated pics.
P.S. Does anyone know what i can put on my frame to mimic the GM coating?
Thanks,

Jimmy

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

Well while i was tearing down my rear end to get it ready for paint and disc brakes it kinda fell on my head a little and left me a nice half hex gouge in my forehead. Hurt like shit, almost knocked me out, but barely bled (see pic above)???

Anyways here is the pic of the rear end ready to cut the top ears off, drill the extra bolt holes, paint and install disc brakes and TA cover.

I also got the rest of my suspension stuff degreased so i can paint it all next weekend.
More to follow. See ya,

Nice! I had a few bumps from when we were working on my truck but I haven't successfully removed a chunk of flesh yet. There is this weekend though.

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

Well in between working on Roberts (Mtn Z) truck and my junk we managed to get the rear end prepped for paint and brakes. I will prime and paint the rear end tomorrow. Here are the pics.

Bolt hole template (drill jig) that my pops made to get a perfect 4th hole drilled:

Top of the flange all cut up and reay for the LS1 backing plates. It's a perfect fit :

nice jig, good idea

Do doubt :)! Looking better all the time ! The chamfered edge around the center is the sign of someone who pays attention to details. Bet that the mounting bolts were drilled for minimum clearance too to maintain a tighter tolerance...

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

Hey dudes. I got some more work done today. I primed my rear end, LS1 backing plates, and modified spindles. I will bust out the spray gun next weekend and shoot them along with some other stuff. I still have to do some small motor stuff and when the suspension stuff is done it will be time to start putting it back together. I cant wait....
Well here are the pics, enjoy.

Re: Syclone Guts Swap NEW PICS AUGUST 25th

So i got some more work done over the weekend. Robert (Mtn Z) helped me tear appart the front end and i used a HVLP spray gun for the first time and sprayed my rear end. It came out looking real good. Its crazy how much better it looks than if i would have rattle canned it

DaveP also stopped by and helped me dial in my adjustable timing pointer on my motor and checked my transfer case. The SyTy master gave the transfer case a clean bill of health so all is good.

Well here are the pics:

And here are some pics of the rear end:

I am going to assemble the rear end this weekend along with other ramdom crap that needs to be done. Stay tuned.

The diff came out nice! Yeah we really tore into that thing and got a lot done. Did you remove the front diff yet?

I would suggest that you weld up the axle tubes while you got it out. This will make them much stronger to twisting. GM just spot welded the tubes.

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

So i got the rear end all finished. One step down many to go. Here are the pics of the finished rear end with the TA cover, brake lines (with Davey Z aluminum bracket), and backing plates installed.
Enjoy:tup:
