Re: Syclone title bonding

Did person you bought it from have it under his name? If not, you pay taxes and any penalties he skipped. If yes, Id try to get a clean copy from prevoius owner if he goes and files for lost title(he probably wont want a pos back) offer him some cash for his triubles. Thats if the signatures are the problem and there is confusion about ownership
. Seems to me they want to make sure nobody will claim your truck(possible theft) before a clean title is awarded to you.
To get bonded title, go to dmv and get forms, take truck to get it appraised, get their appraisal, take documents to insurance company that sells bonds, take it to get title transfer and they will charge you 1 1/2 the values of the truck for taxes(might even be current.blue.book) + any penailtites they feel like adding. $$$
after you pay for all that and go through all that trouble, someone better not claim your truck or get ready to hand it over and lose your cash. This is how it happens in texas.
Good luck bud.

Re: Syclone title bonding

I just went through this when I tried to buy a syclone in may- I talked to the dmv, and without spending a considerable about of money it wasn't possible to get the title in my name since it was already filled out to a buyer

it looks like it was a dealer trade in, auctioned twice, then sold to a private buyer and he never titled it

Re: Syclone title bonding

why not just get a bill of sale, signed by the owner... tell the DMV the title is lost and do a re-issue? ive done that many times

Right now, the legal owner is the person/entity whose name is on the front. I think. Bill of sale option sounds like a good idea. Id try the current owner get a clean copy and have him sign it over to you.
You know what they say, "possession is 9/10 of the law". What is good for the goose... just keep all your original stuff wirh you until the time has passed and any conditions of the title are met.

Re: Syclone title bonding

you can either have the guy who is on the front of the title or the guy listed as the buyer on the title to get a new title issued

it really varies depending on the state- the one I was dealing with was a massachusets title with a NY buyer and NY, NJ, and Mass DMV all said they couldn't do anything with it without the original owner on the title or the "buyer" on the back coming in to straighten it out- or I could apply for an abandoned status- pay the state money, send certified letters to the last titled owner, and take out adds in the paper- it ended up being more trouble than it was worth

on the other hand my friend lives in Detroit and he flips cars and he said Michigan DMV is easy and they take a bill of sale for an application for a new title

all states have different requirments- was it your local DMV that told you to get it bonded? I know in NJ you can pay a company to restore a title for you- but it ends up costing in the thousands

Re: Syclone title bonding

Hope you got it cheap and it wasn't sold as a clean title.

Can be resolved, but will involve a fair amount of time, fees, hassles or some combination there of.

Not sure of other states, but here in Illinois that is not the case. The legal.owner would be the dealer listed last as the third dealer reassignment. He would be responsible for transferring the title to the buyer, or whatever would be necessary to sell to another dealer since the title is out of lines.

Re: Syclone title bonding

should have never been sold that way and wow you accepted it like that which is more scary.
in any case, the last signed owner will have to file as owner, or just contact first guy on front of title and have him apply for lost title,
i have done titles that had mistakes and all it took was some affidavits but that wasn't from a dealer signee etc.. goodluck
