What are the details. Where are the pictures?

Mark, I saw the add last night, wasn't much to look at, was kinda scary looking under the hood  At first when I saw the price I was excited but after seeing the pics I knew why the price was that low ;)

This ones been for sale for a while......I thought it was already posted in this thread, but I guess not. FWIW I thought the price was higher last time I saw the ad, but I'm not sure. Also, this is the same seller that was selling the red/gray Ty for 35k :D

This has to be the same 93 red/red that was for sale this summer in Richmond, BC with 84,000 miles on it.

the 92 blk/blk ty that jimmy posted for sale on the last page is junk! i looked at it about a year and a half ago, the truck was origionally white. the quarter cant remember pass. or drivers is so bad and the engine looks like hell! the firwall is all chipped and starting to show the white paint and the cladding is broken. i would of had a hard time giving the guy 4000 for it.

Spotted it in Tumbler Ridge, BC today.

New owner's name is Dustin, lives in High Level, AB IIRC.

I think he may be considering selling it.

Re: SyTy's for sale in Canada

hey guys .. My first post here. I am in Ottawa and I am looking for a Sy preferably but noticed this listing near Drummondville, QC. I am possbly setting up an appointment early next week to see the truck if it is not sold by then. For those of you who have Sy' Ty's already in Canada, should I strictly try to find one already in the country? Does anyone have much experience bringing one into the country from the US or know what is involved. I read one fella's post about bringing one up from Texas that he had shipped and it sounds like he had some problems. any info would be greatly appreciated guys. I found one Sy apparently owned by a Pete Tessier outside of Ottawa but don't know anything about it .. Here is the listing for the Quebec Ty... possible roll back? 25 000 miles? what about the price

looks like it's in pretty decent shape from the one pic. Since the owner seems to know the rarity of these trucks, it is very possible it has 25,000 original miles.

As far as importing SyTys into Canada, importing a Sy is easier than a Ty, there a number of things you'll need to do to get across the border including having the title in your name at the border for 3 full days before you can actually bring the truck out of the US. Then there are import fees and taxes and inspections... If you can find one already in Canada, it will be easier for you. Although with the Canadian dollar being so close to the US dollar right now, there are deals to be had done across the line.

Thanks for the reply Ozrein. Much appreciated. I should go check it out because it is only 3.5 hours form Ottawa. Although I want a Sy, a clean Ty would be just fine.

As for importing, any idea why it is harder to bring a Ty in?

How did you come about getting your machine? Was it already in Canada? The ones that are here, seem to be mostly in alberta/bc .

I just found the government site with a bunch of info, www/.riv.ca Registrar of Imported Vehicles. The really bad news, is that according to that site, you can only import a vehicle that is less than 15 years old... that means were pretty much screwed on getting any more of these incredible rides brought in to the beatiful country.

from the riv. ca site " The Registrar of Imported Vehicles program regulates only vehicles originally manufactured for the U.S. market. The program regulates passenger cars, trucks, vans, jeeps, chassis cabs, trailers, motorcycles and snowmobiles less than 15 years old"

Re: SyTy's for sale in Canada

ACtually that means it'll be easier to import a Sy since they are now over 15 years old. So you dont need all the hoopla from RIV. If you PM a member here: werbicki, he may be able to shed a bit more light on that since he just imported one this march into Alberta. He bought it in Jan. but waited 'til March to reach the 15 years. If that's the case you wont need DRL's to pass the RIV inspection since you shouldnt have to deal with RIV at all.

As for the Typhoon it has something to do with crash-testing since it's an SUV.

Re: SyTy's for sale in Canada

With the incomplete VIN #'s Importing a Syclone is no problem since it's a truck, and all trucks are admissable but since a Typhoon is a "sport utlilty" vehicle, that's the problem (the gov't figures there can be interior mods that affect the crash-worthiness), so it has to be at least 15 years old to bring it across

Re: SyTy's for sale in Canada

Guys, thanks for the replies. Ozrein I found that out today, when info@riv.ca emailed me back informing me it is a little easier to get a vehicle older than 15 years into the country.

I found this 92 Ty, still for sale in Toronto (link below)... However I am concerned with going to see it because Ssry made a post saying a 1992 Ty that he looked at was in bad shape according to his post and I am concerned he is speaking of the same truck here is his post and also, here is the link for the Ty in Toronto. what do you guys think?

Posted by ssry :the 92 blk/blk ty that jimmy posted for sale on the last page is junk! i looked at it about a year and a half ago, the truck was origionally white. the quarter cant remember pass. or drivers is so bad and the engine looks like hell! the firwall is all chipped and starting to show the white paint and the cladding is broken. i would of had a hard time giving the guy 4000 for it. wonder if this was the truck he was referring to below.

Re: SyTy's for sale in Canada

Well I kind of think they are two different Ty's. The one on autotrader that you posted first has the stock wheels and it's hard to tell but the paint looks fine. The one that ssrsy posted has Impala wheels and the front passnger side corner of the front valance is chipped to hell showing pink(?) paint beneath. The one on autotrader might be worth a look.

Okay mystery solved. I spoke with Dave at Bramhall Auto Classics about this listing

It is indeed the one that ssrsy mentioned as being white originally and that the body has seen better days.

If the one in Drummondville, QC does not pan out, I will likely head to Toronto for a closer look myself .. you never know...

Thanks to ssrsy for giving me a good heads up on this one's condition.
