testing the waters

so just out of curiosity... what's everyone think the going rate is for a 92 blk/blk ty with 20k and a blown driver side head gasket?

debating selling as is or having it fixed then selling.

Going to be leaving the 7th ring of hell aka California this year, and not sure if I want to lug a garage ornament around with me.

Re: testing the waters

Throwing out a starting point... Low mile CA truck, needs work on the engine? 7k. Fixed, maybe as high as 10k.

I think a rebuilt engine on a 20k truck could fetch a bit more than 10k. (assuming the rest of the truck reflects the low miles)

I would get it fixed if you can because you will get low-balled to death otherwise. Someone actually offered my $2,500 for my "noisy" 45k Syclone. :bored:

Definitely get it fixed before listing. Like Baythan said, depending on the condition of the rest of the truck, I'd imagine getting around 14k shouldn't be to far fetched for a 20k mile Ty. I was offered 6k for my Syclone that had 28k miles on it back in 05. I laughed and told him I just got a great deal and paid over 12, he called me an idiot for paying that much for a Sonoma with a cheap body kit lol.

Where in Cali are you? Pics? I wouldn't mind adding a black '92 to my collection.

Re: testing the waters

well it's not costing me anything to keep it. It's paid off and I'm actually saving money by having it on my insurance with a multi-car discount :p. I'm merely curious as to how the market is these days. It used to be that anyone knowledgeable didn't want to pay shit for them, and the people who barely know of them are the ones who pay. Still the same?

For me, these trucks are like that hot girl in high school that everyone wanted, she married me, we had some great times, but then she spent all my money, stopped putting out, and got fat.

I might just stash it in my parents garage for a few months... like a trial separation type thing and hopefully the time apart will rekindle our love for one another and I'll want to keep it.

damn i knew i started way too high in negotiations with you haha

your always going to get more profit if you repair it. A smart buyer wont buy a truck at fair value minus just the repair since he cant really road test it to check the trans, diffs, tcase, and a driver side blown HG can turn into a total overhaul real fast

i don't like to buy something broken unless im sure worse case scenario i will break even.

I'm racking my brain bro:What is the backstory?

If I remember correctly, you bought this Ty out of Houston, sight unseen, got it and it was blown up,and you never fixed it? Or did you fix it and it blew up again?
