i did say that i owe people money... true.

did i ever tell guy that i had no money for him .... no

did guy ever ask me for more money than the 6g's to start? no

did guy ask me about changing the build? true

what did i say? do whatever it takes to get it done.. so i can drive it. i dont need anything special.

performance guarantee? quoted by guy reffett. 11.8's or faster.

on the contract... 6,000's to start. 6,000 to finish

what? in the world how does he have more than 6 grand in my truck? he pulled the motor. gave me a trans for 3500 a fuel rail and a exhaust manifold. storage???? thats not my problem the contract said 3-4 months it would be done.

i have absolutly nothing against rockford but i guess we just see different facts on the truth. maybe i should have something against them.. thats for some of you others to decide. all i mentioned was what happened.

i though this forum was made for anyone to speak there mind. so why can't i explain what i'm going through with my truck?

okay.. the motor was on a stand? how do we know that was mine? when i mentioned picking the truck up.. why wasn't i told it will be done in 1 or 2 months? instead all i got was i can't give you a time we dont know when it will be finished.. you'll be driving in the spring..
.. of what year? 5 1/2 years is a long time. dude i couldn't even drink when i brought this truck there. whew..

if i didn't have any money? how do i dish out the money to another builder to get the truck done? how do i drop 15,000 in a corvette.. how do i have a turbo hayabusa? c'mon man. jokes over. i would have rather paid the full 12,000 bucks up front and had the truck back in 3 months. than pay 1/2 and get it back unfinsihed in 5 1/2 years.

dude who is this silly ... your truck is up there now.. i seen it. how often do you drive yours?

anyways i'm outta here. i won't be on the forums anymore for the reason of nobody giving a shit about another typhoon owner. you can contact me at vettandtyphoon@aol.com. or on streetfire. net just look me up

All I can say is I hope I never have to go through that. Of course with alot of people its all about the cash and taking short cuts but I hope there is a few good people left out there to help others on info and working on SyTys.

Nah, some of us have been watching this happen for years. Unfortunately, this community tends to run off people and vendors over time. Not really a whole lot of us here which makes the sometimes high concentration of in-fighting effect the community much more than on a larger forum.

It sucks sometimes to watch it happen, but I've learned to expect drama from this board every once in a while.

Why didnt you bump your old thread?

I would be PISSED too ... but I would want my truck BACK before I started crap , lol.

Best of luck, but $50x12x6 years = $3600 ... I wouldnt want this to go to court ---

19 posts in 5 1/2 years is not a contributing owner in any case. You may have had a rough time but rather than keep people informed or ask advice you have acted unilaterally and perhaps made mistakes with the way this transaction was handled.

There are always two sides to a story.

To then throw a tantrum and remove yourself from the board claiming it shrinks the community when you have not contributed for such a long time other than to criticise someone is a little hypocritical.

You could stick around and offer your advice as others offer theirs. It seems you want support but are not prepared to give it to others. I think the expression is called "having your cake and eating it". If you plan to do anything with this truck then you shouldn't burn your bridges. People here might buy a project or offer advice on how to get it going again or know someone that wants it. Hell, you might even resolve things with the guy building it. Some people seem pretty happy with his work.

Anything said on here is an opinion. Most people have never met. It's the internet. I wouldn't get so wound up if somenoe gives their opinion and they don't have all the facts. Chances are that is 90% of what is going on between the two of you.

It is a shame you have chosen to go but if you don't contribute to the board, how can we miss your absence?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

you paid 6 k for him to start the truck, when the 6k was spent or turned into labor he stopped, whats the big deal? if it was my shop you would have either paid storage, taken the truck home till you had more money or 3rd I would own it Basically it comes down to this you wanted a 11sec truck and couldnt afford it so now its Guys fault? makes no sense to me

Re: this will be my final post on syty.net read up and like what i got to say

I am not getting into the he did this he said that, but the other thread was closed because you both said your piece and many others were chiming in with their opinions.

In the order of keeping your thread from going down the toilet like so many that have started out the same way it was closed.
It was not deleted or censored so your words still stand and can be found using the search for other owners searching for someone in a scenario just like yours.

To be honest this board has seen its share of displeased customers venting their frustrations when they haven't done their own due diligence in selecting a vendor OR communicating directly with that vendor.

It is easy to be nice in person and on the phone then later feel deceived and come here to vent.
This issue needs to be resolved directly between you and your vendor.
It is not the community's nor the board admin mod team to decide who is right and who is wrong.

You should not be taking this out on the community because had you come to us for help in the front end perhaps someone could have given you some advice on who built their truck, who had trouble with theirs and who to watch with a careful eye.
If you are plopping down $6k up front and agreeing to pay a balance of another $6k i would be damn sure I knew what I was getting into.

Your comments about the community are completely unfounded considering your position that has already been pointed out.
We have a very tight community here and its not something you are entitled to by merely having a user name, you have to participate and share openly to gain others respect.

I urge you to reconsider your position and let the community help you, although some are probably already forming their own opinions. I would put this behind you and move forward with a new attitude.
easy for me to say I am not the one in your shoes, but I can honestly I don't think I'd let myself end up in that spot.

Best of luck with your Typhoon.
It is truly a one of a kind vehicle and you want to gather as many resources as possible to make your future ownership a pleasure and not a hardship.

I was going to ask what parts you got back with your truck, but I see you've already stated that. What was supposed to be purchased with your 6k...???....motor parts??? Did you bring guy a runing truck with a trans, fuel rail and exhaust manifolds.........if so(or not) and you have documentation on what was suposed to happen for your $6000 I'd take his azz to court and put a lean on his business! :2cents:

I wonder what kinda of tranny a person gets for $3500.....I hope it wasn't another 700r4 with a one off bullet proof build!? :rotf:

Exhaust manifolds are running about 2-300 in good used condition...also...I wonder what $2000 fuel rail looks like.......is this a group buy!?

Storage fee's.....I wonder if there was a signed contract stating storage fee's would be added??? :squint:

If I were you I'd toss it all back together with what you have just to get her back on the road and forget about this mess for a while until you get it straight with guy.

Two points I want to add.

Contract? You have a paper contract?

Second, good luck at the new shop, I know them well too.

Everyone please make note that this is not the last time we will hear from this gentleman who is in well over his head. The new shop his truck is at has been calling local SyTy owners askign for help because they have no idea what they are doing with a vehicle like this because they have never touched a single one before.

You made your bed now have fun sleeping in it.

Said it once, said it a thousand time, ignorance is bliss

You are aware a shop charges for labor too or were they supposed to do the work for free?

Re: this will be my final post on syty.net read up and like what i got to say

I'm curious as to why a motor build that only has to run 11.8's cost 12k and take 5 1/2 years to build? Was there more being done to the truck? It seems you hear a lot more horror stories about that shop than you do good expirences. It might misunderstanding on the customers part or maybe Guy isn't being clear when he comunicates with his customers. Either way it sounds like something needs to change. This is the 3rd person in 6 months i have either read about or meet in person that has had a horrible expirence their.

How much do YOU think is fair for a motor in a truck that came in with the block junked, crank busted in 3 pieces and all internals shot to shit? Along with a custom IC and custom headers AND a built trans plus all labor?

Remember, this is the same person who posted he didn't even know WHERE his truck was or where the shop was located. Really on top of everything here eh?

Re: this will be my final post on syty.net read up and like what i got to say

Common Mike every job i quote includes labor along with every other shop we work with and know. Its standard business practice in this trade. Anyone should be able to build a 11.8 "motor" for 6k including labor. 4.3 non-balance shaft blocks are a dime a dozen for replacement. If he went bowtie or something else thats a different story. I didn't read anything in his post about custom headers or intercooler. Trans rebuild in a 700r4 with good parts i have had done several times for $1300-$1500. That brings him to about 7,500 subtotal. Your Telling me there is another $4,500 worth of work there!

$4,500 for removal of all parts, time and materials to make the IC and the headers and to actually build the trans, then to install all said parts and to have it tuned and running properly.

$4,500 is by no means off base IMHO.

And of course you didn't know about all these other little odds and ends, how would you, you were not told the full story.

Edit:: in your list you did not account for the price of a new turbo either unless the 11.8 was supposed to be off stock turbo which i don't believe was the case.

Edit #2: you work with alot of sheet metal and other material. How are them prices nowadays?

Here is a USED one for more than that.

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=61323

and that does not even include the converter.

If you can do a built 700 with a converter for $1,300 day in and day out you need to start flipping them on here, you will make a killing.

Edit:: Here is another example of 700 prices with and without converter.

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=38968

Like I said, $1,300 would sell like hotcakes!

IMO motor build (stock heads and manifolds, ported) 4k
R&R $1000

Walbro,3" DP,#50's,big turbo,gauges,external wastegate,chip,battery relocate,air filter,ect + labor maybe 4-5K. So yeah 10-12k to get a blown truck to run 11.8.And a trasmissior/TC.

Re: this will be my final post on syty.net read up and like what i got to say

Your right i didn't and like you said they weren't posted either. I have taken apart several of these truck and i'm sure Guy has taken apart many many more. With that expirence i can't believe its 4500 to remove parts.

I have had 3 done at Atomic Trans in Villa Park. Parts run between 800-1100 dollars and labor to rebuild is 300-400. Have had zero problems so far and one is behind a 500+ whp chevelle.
