to vortec or not to vortec/pics inside

i want to do my upper/lower intake and head gaskets on my '92 ty but can't find any at the parts stores around here. where do get them from?

also, i am SUPPOSE to have the vortec head swap but i don't know how to tell the difference between the stockers and vortecs. i have the STG chip and it says "VORTEC" 50# on it, if that helps any? besides, the guy i bought the ty from already lied about other things about the truck so there is no way of me knowing for sure.

this is my dd so i would like to have the parts before i tear into this project. don't really want to tear into it and have to wait for ordered parts, but with my luck i'm sure i will.

is there a sure way to be able to tell if in fact i do have vortecs? i can take pics if needed. your help will be greatly appreciated.

Mike at RPM, The lower intake needs to be modified for the vortecs, get some close pics of the lower intake around the injector bungs and i will have a look

Yup, you need to have .375" of material welded across the top of the intake ports if you are running vortecs. Some good pics of the modification needed here.

you can also see it on how the stock dipstick is connected to the head.

thank you for the replies and that helpful link. i will take pics of the intake and dipstick mount (if there is room) tonight.

after that link my intake does appear to be modded but i'm not 100%. i need/value your thoughts>insight>wisdom on this

Mine is correct on my Vortecs, but its because I had them drill and tapped for the correct mounting points for the wire looms and oil dipstick.

if i had to guess, i would say that they are vortec heads with the modded intake.

The intake has been weld, so you should have Vortec heads

11.95 @ 115.xx mph with a 1.9 60ft. left the line with 2 lbs. of boost

coulda been better but that d@mn light tree is a b!tch!!!! san antonio raceway

Is that 25g your running called a te06h-24v ?


as far as i know it's a SUPER 25G as stated by the previous owner. whether or not the "super" has anything to do with it being different or better than a 25g i don't know.

i do know i found it through HAHN. rated up to 700 hp. where would this te067-24v be located?

Reaction time has no bearing on ET. You can sit there for 5 seconds after it goes green, and the timer won't start until you move.

Some times the numbers are on the compressor housing. Do you know what size exhaust housing it is? I have a 12cm
