Re: tuning on ebay?

Top of the line perform- did you dismiss my chip request? No cost involved, and a quick evaluation is waiting.....

Once again; Stock 1993 Typhoon, except for a 3" muffler shop cat back exhaust.

Re: tuning on ebay?

I didn't dismiss your request, I have already sent a chip to another member of this board, and they have already received the chip and are in the process of installing it and testing it. I am not going to give everyone on here free chips. That would be bad for business. But that other member will test out the chip and post the results soon. I am also not running code $59. I am using GM's original code $58. I don't get too fancy. I use original equipment.

Re: tuning on ebay?

It doesnt have to be $59, nor did I expect it to be. I also wasnt asking for a handout, I was offering to evaluate a chip for you. Im no pro but I obviously do all my own tuning. getting a "free" chip from you was not my intention. I figured that if you were any good at all I could show the results sooner, thus making it "good for (your) business"

Code $59 is a modified program that runs in "original equipment" trucks, with original equipment ECM's. The only alterations required are a 3-bar map and a wide band O2 input.

$59 also requires honesty, and the user agreement states cannot be sold.

But what do I know about anything.

No- I cannot find anyone to resolder the chip. Can anyone help? I want to give this guy a chance to see what his chip will do.
This is what I have:

You could pick up a G1 from Moates then you wouldn't have to solder anything.

I know you are using some aftermarket chip now. Does it use a carrier similar to this and can you just pop the chip out of that and pop his in?

Edit: If you do solder it make sure you turn it around from the way its pictured. That little notch needs to stay on the same side..

Re: tuning on ebay?

I wouldn't hack up a stock chip. I would get a moates connector or find a hypercrap carrier.. I honestly wouldn't even bother. Anyone who has really tuned these truck or look at the 3 bar chips will see that fueling table are completely different from stock. The stock table are conservative which are easier on the ignition components.

This is just going to be a another 2 bar chip with perhaps a dowzen minor changes, that will be like all the other Dynotech, KB, ATR, Hypertech chips. At best it will be another ATR.

Re: tuning on ebay?

Not all of my stock chips were soldered into the memcal. Some I was able to use a small screwdriver to carefully lift the chip out. On others if you pry gently and have a soldering iron handy you can easily separate them one "leg" at a time. The amount of solder used is miniscule. When it comes out, put in a ZIF socket, then you can change chips whenever you want just by lifting the little arm.

A moates adapter would be better though, but cost more and take a few days to get.

Or you could send the chip to someone else to evaluate- like me- who could read it, post the bin, and send it right back to you.

I cannot find someone to solder this chip. I asked Top of the Line if I can send the chip to SBNova for eval. I have not heard back.

You could just forward the chip to anyone with a reader. Or Top o da line could shoot a bin out to one of us.

Re: tuning on ebay?

send it to me. i'll dump the file to a bin to a file and imediately send the chip back to you in a Moates G1 for you to test. when your finished testing you can send the G1 back or buy it if you want to keep the chip. i'm only 5 hours away from the "land of Phil Fulmer" so it shouldn't take but a couple of days.

Re: tuning on ebay?

I asked Top of the line for a chip (bin file) to be emailed and I dont think he wanted me to see it. I havent made any negative comments at all in this thread so I dont know what the problem is. I think at this point anyone but Jabberwalk who reports anything about his chip will just be accused of altering the bin file from his original tune. Other than my own personal interest in his tune, I think this is going to be a big waste of time.

Ashman- if you do get the bin, can you email it to me? SBNova@Yahoo.com thanks.

Re: tuning on ebay?

Ashman hooked me up with a moates and it will be here tomorrow.

I should be able to hit the track Thursday night and run stock, pitbull steet, and the Top of the Line chips to see any differences. I will drive Top of the lines for a day to see how it reacts.

Edit: Holy Crap- 4700 views. WOW :shocked!:

I think this part, although highly subjective, will amount to more than time slips at the track. A good timeslip means more power at WOT, but if its not a good driver then it doesnt really matter. Try to check some 0-60's and even fuel mileage too.
