Yup. Got the email and I have the actual program. I really like it. It's a lot easier for me to understand than DM because I can use both the Dashboard display and the details screen to see what's going on. I love the program.

Keith and I discussed the dashboard layout, and talked to one of the guys there and had him re-tool it a bit. I like this new layout:

I've been using TL on my GN & TTA 4 yrs and I always liked it, so I'm definitely interested. Gotta give Ken M. a call.n Have U guys found anything yet that TL can't do that DM can ?

:( Looks like I need to stop in and get another update. I still have the other version. When did they retool it? I haven't gotten any emails from Ken or Jason saying they had more updates. I like the new look though. ::thumbsup::

just got that screenshot yesterday, after i did some hack editing of the original to show 'em what we wanted :)

so i'll take some of the credit on the new look :p

dan mentioned that it may be just added into the syty pack as a 'tuning' display or something (as in the original dash is kept, and this is an optional one)

that's what they have for the buicks. they have a white face guage look as well as some others, so that makes sense that they would make an "option" pack. i like your version with rtd in the middle. sometimes it's hard to pick out just glancing with it in the middle of the others.

I don't know if you're going to get much on that quite yet. T-Link was just released for the Sy/Ty a few weeks ago. I never really had experience with DM because my Ty was the test vehicle for T-Link, so that's all I'm used to.

On a side note for T-link. I like the help section. It has definitions for all the abbreviations on the screen, and for the most important ones, a base value to start from. When you're puter throws a code, it tells you what Malf it throws, and goes into detail on what to look at to fix, and I think a future version will be able to reset your computer from T-Link so you can see if the code is a fluke or not. (May already be there, haven't had a malf since I've had a mostly complete version of T-Link)

But like I said, I never really used DM because I've been working with the T-Link guys since last October.

Just my $0.02. Oh, and one more thing, you have to buy T-Links ALDL cable. You can't make your own, or use someone else's. It's proprietary to T-Link. Seems to be one of the only real drawbacks.

I don't think anyone is. Ken M. was one of the original members/starters of the sy/ty list, and browses the board every so often. He knows a lot about the trucks, as well as the turbo buicks. If you listed your email in your profile, it's easy to get. :)

I posted this in the "tuning forum" when it first came out for the Sy/Ty's almost a month ago.

I use it on our GN...great program. Cannot wait to try it on the Sy this spring. Just waiting for spring break :)

The new screen was quickly done based upon input from primarily Brian (Thanks ::brews:: )! TurboLink is pretty flexible about how/what to show. Let us know what you think of the layout or other mods to make and we will see how it fits in with the architecture.

Would love any feedback on functionality, and layout. One issue we are bumping into is putting too many controls on the interface. If you had to see a single dashboard - is the pic in this this thread pretty functional? Should we have a "tuner" interface as a seperate tab? Which of the views do you guys even look at ...(dashboard, details, graphs, spreadsheet) - let us know what works and doesn't - we want to continually improve the product.

thanks
dan

For benefit of people who don't have the software (which is pretty much everyone on the board) I'll post some shots of the other tabs on the interface.

stripchart

Typically, I use a scan tool in 4 different ways (can't comment on use of the Turbolink yet, as I haven't used it yet)

1- look over basic data, is the truck running ok, is there any data that looks out of range, no WOT stuff at this point. Details tab would work fine here. Looking at mundane details here is the key - everything is potentially important, possible cause of problems, who knows.

2- watching data during WOT blasts, and you are the passenger - and ready to scream GET OUT OF IT if you see knock/low 02's - the dashboard display would be great here, as well as the audible indicator (very cool!)

3- tuning for calibration's sake, usually dialing in fueling, for AE/VE in weird combinations. I'd use the details screen here, but dashboard could be used, and looking over runs in the stripchart would be the best utilization for this purpose. This is especially good for going over 1/4 mile runs that have been recorded. The strip chart would help identify trends, and can correlate data easier ("I went lean above 4000 rpm"; "i had knock at the shift points" and so forth)

4- basic monitoring in the truck - this is where the dashboard display really shines, and why I wanted to see some changes to the initial dashboard layout. I can easily glance over and see what the AFR is, or what my coolant temperature is.

You'll notice that Turbo-link now has an ad at the top of the screen. I've been testing it for awhile now and like the dashboard layout. The new one BG suggested looks even better.
One thing i'm not sure of is the playback. With DataMaster you can see the line graph and figure out where your run starts. I haven't figured out an easy way to do this with TL. Maybe i'm just missing something..
I noticed the help screen briefly while checking out a friends truck and it looked pretty nice.

Turbolink vs. Datamaster

Turbolink vs. Datamaster

Has anyone who's used this formed an opinion of TL vs DM? My Diacom notebook battery died and it doesn't seem to be compatible with my more modern computer, so I need to get either TL or DM. Cost seems about the same.

TIA
