Re: TY Rebuild

i didnt even see your reply steve sorry i just duplicated you, but to add iam sure the ring are fried and i decided tonite that sooner than later when some money comes in the block is getting torn down and getting some tlc but in the mean time we should figure out this electrical crap and get it running at least and maybe your datamaster can say otherwise on those rings/head gaskets.

The gurgling probably doesnt have anything to do with it not starting. Its probably just the intercooler pump. Put your hand/ear on/by the I.C. and see if you can feel/hear it running. Most people hook them up to run when the key is in the on position.

Re: TY Rebuild

Sounds like a grounding issue. Check all the grounds on the back of the head. on the manifold on the firewall clean them all see if that helps any.

Also make sure all the wiring is ok.

Re: TY Rebuild

yeah i have the stock intake tube i just dont have any of the air box components but i know i can get them iam just waiting for some extra money to come in and iam going to get a bunch of stuff

stock airbox tube = dead turbo IF you tighten up the orange elbow too much. HAppened to me.

Check the ends and make sure they aren't cracked or anything.

Good luck figuring it all out.

Re: TY Rebuild

The new intake looks 100% better.

would a dead turbo not make it start?
Not unless something really odd happened.

That sucks. Time to find a set of junkyard L35s and rebuild it better than before. Good luck with the electrical problems. I hate looking for stuff like that. Keep us updated.

Re: TY Rebuild

What do you have for tools? Engine hoist, stand, stuff like that? I could come up on a friday night and bang it out. You ready to tear it down and get into the machine shop? I mean one of these weekends soon anyway. I just want to help some other ty people out and learn a bit more about the trucks.

Re: TY Rebuild

you have a garage or shop to do the work in right? I have an engine hoist I can load in my work van and bring up. My engine stand is being used right now and I sold my second last year. You know that your motor is going to need a total rebuild right? Ground crank, probably a overbore and the cost associated with all that right? Do you have a reputable machine shop in the area to do the machine work? Lets talk offline and go from there, want my number?
