Typhoon #1215 Mods

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

I was running 20psi on the slower runs and the 12.3 run. I only built like 2psi on the run with the Camaro. I built 6psi on the Launch for the 12.3 pass.

PS- I'm still gathering $ to get my Trans built and have to get the TY on jacks to remove the Trans. More updates to come soon. Have a few other things I'll be doing this winter.

Great LED mod on the dashboard bulbs. Do you have a list of the part numbers for the LED replacement bulbs? Thank you...... Terry

Recieved my 3200 Vigilante Converter from Jason West (SYCLONE#1531). Took a pic along with my other HD Parts. Going to be getting my Spare trans built in a few weeks. Then the project begins to pull the trans out.

This converter should wake up the Typhoon pretty well :turbo:

Pretty impressed with the Ty. Good to see it being so well taken care of. Good Luck and keep the thread going.

Installed my Inner Fender plates. My dad surprised me for my birthday with these. He made them from 16ga Aluminum, Powder coated Satin black.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Removed the Transfercase today. All that's left it to remove the Trans. Will be getting my Rebuilt trans back this week and then it's the install process.

Just to make things clear, the stock Trans in the Ty currently is great. Shifts perfectly fine and hard with 100k miles. I just don't want a perfectly running (stock) trans to grenade with the power I have now, and I definitely needed a higher stall converter.

Can't wait till I'm done to feel the difference in Spool up compared to the stock converter with the new 3200 Vigilante.

The Fender plates were a one off deal my dad made. Not really interested in making more.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Got my Trans out today. Waiting on the Trans shop to finish my spare so I can install it with the Converter.

Overall, the Removal process wasn't that bad. I took my time with a buddy helping to keep an eye on the bolts that I had the sockets square on them. Research and taking your time is key to these large projects to keep my sanity.

while the trans is out, its easy to take the governor out and change your shift points.

Put my Turbo and Downpipe back on. I took it off to Vent the Wastegate to Atmosphere. I like to be different and in theory makes sense to do it without having both the Exhaust and Wastegate dumping into the DP.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Hey Sean looking good man......I hope you don't run into any probs with the wastgate being too loud now that it's vented that way. I had a friend with a GN and he got pulled over constantly and it was just plain annoying on the street. It did sound badass though......

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

Thanks Matt, haven't had any problems yet being that I run a 3" Straight pipe dumped before the axle.

I'll have video of it soon.

LOL! Yeah, if you've been driving around like that I guess it won't make much difference....:rotf:

Painted my Driveshaft. I'll eventually upgrade to an Aluminum DS in the future. Also picked up my Built Trans from Atomic Transmissions in Villa Park, IL. They were very professional and have done Steve's (SEL777) trans also. They are about 20mins away incase I have any issues.

Can't wait to install this bad boy and feel the difference in Spool up with the new torque converter!! :D

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

The Ty is all back together! Took it for a drive today, and Spool up is night and day compared to the Stock converter. It's amazing! I'm glad everything turned out great.

I'll have Video up soon :D

Here's a pic of the JSM X-member I got from Harmon. Fit like a glove, and much more easier to work under the truck with that installed.

Re: Typhoon #1215 Mods

I've been wanting to install LEDs in my Gauge Cluster for a long time being that I had a couple bulbs blown. While I was in there, I replaced the 8 Gauge bulbs with 15-LEDs and the Check engines with a single LED bulb. I chose the 15-LED bulb because alot of people complain that LEDs arent that bright, so I wanted to make sure it was plenty bright. It looks great without any hot spots. I also replaced the 2 HVAC bulbs with a single LED to match.

So I bought some of these

and they don't seem to fit the check engine lights. Do they have to be trimmed to twist lock in?

Update Edit: Just had to force them in with some pliers.
