Re: Typhoon #2016. Twin Turbo LS1

and finally found some time to fab up the exhaust system this weekend....6 months later.

I raised the pipes up a little bit so that you can't see the cats/mufflers when the truck is on the ground. I had to add a small s bend to go around a body mount...wasn't too difficult. But not everyone (mattw)enjoyed my grinding to clean up welds  To his delight, and with smaug's help, got some more hands and better welder settings so the last many welds were good to go off the table.

cleaning up the s bend..

In this pic from left to right: Sy381, MattW, Sharkbait, and me...was getting everyone's opinion on the best height to mount the cats/mufflers:

a nice dark pic of me mocking up the passenger side S bend:

And some crappy iphone video of the truck running with the new exhaust setup:

I still have to make some hangers and get some band clamps...but i'm pleased with how it turned out. Sounds pretty nice/throaty...and really quieted the truck up inside the cab. Now i guess i'll have to pay attention to my passengers when cruising. But what a difference going from open turbos to a complete exhaust.

my big nose fogs up the face shield (i used the face shield on the grinding wheel since that shoots all over the place)...plus with an angle grinder you can pretty well contol where crap flies.

careful grinding with those plastic pants.......damn near lit myself on fire doing that a while ago; sparks flying in one spot for a prolonged period will start a fire.

Truckless. For now.

Even for a cell phone video, sounds good Renz. Was exhaust the only thing keeping you from being PA legal? I couldn't remember what else you needed to do.

i still need to install egr system (and will also add a pcv system becuase i want it), fab fenderwells, make the horn work, and rig up a defroster (thinking a fan like school buses use  )

Is that stuff you have to have every year, or just the initial inspection?

That exhaust won't make your truck any faster.

you would have really enjoyed the egr block-off plate flying up in the air anytime he got into boost..

on that note you would have also REALLY enjoyed watching him attempt to do a launch and build boost while both of his turbos were disconnected from the intercooler, which was also disconnected from the intake
