Re: Typhoon #2016. Twin Turbo LS1

are you tempted to do the rebuild yourself? with all the resources at your disposal it could be a good experience?

How much is a rebuild?

For what it's worth, RPM In Indiana quoted me $250 plus parts for a build and the owner has a Sy with an 80E in it. Thank God it was just my valve body - return shipping was $1000 plus taxes. It'll be much less for you of course so might be viable?

I'm getting to play with mine next friday.

yes i am tempted to do the rebuild myself. No clue what the parts cost as i've never contemplated it before. between MattW and SY-1193, i'm sure they can guide me through what i need and how to approach it.

I might talk to RPM in Indy...hopefully he's coming to NATS. I could just bring the tranny to him if i were to decide to have it built elsewhere.

I bet you are kicking yourself for not paying much attention at Blake's rebuild class you attended!

That knowlege would come in handy...huh? LOL:rotf:

I see your Blake Trans still has the top mounting bolt hole on it...never trimmed off that will probably be needed for your block right? It is like it was meant to be.

All that fancy stuff in that truck...I guess it is still a part gobbling Typhoon at heart.

So did they get to it today?

they had 3 other swaps to do before mine...all of which were stock vehicles so much tougher to do. I never heard from them so i'm sure it didn't get done. I leave tomorrow am for vacation, so i won't get to see it again for a week :( Hopefully i'll get a call from them while i'm gone though

i paid attention for probably 2/3's of it. Enough to see thats it's not physically difficult, just follow instructions to a T difficult.

No fear...i'll let you rebuild it so that you can hone your skills :rotf:

Well when you get that call just let me know and I will head to the shop and take it for a spin and make sure that Blake tranny works. :rotf:

Re: Typhoon #2016. Twin Turbo LS1

back from vacation as of today. picked up the Ty this morning, and it has all gears and converter is locking up. hooray!

Found out a couple more things that need to be fixed before the NATS trip. I'm also trying to convince a local buddy that owns a speed shop give me a quick driveability tune to tone down the pig richness a bit.

Seems to be running ok though. Oil Pressure is a tad bit lower than i think is proper...so i need to see whats up with that. Cruising in OD i'm only seeing like 24 psi (1500rpms or so). Part of me wonders if i should add some restrictors to the turbos, maybe too much oil is being pumped through them and starving the motor a bit.

So I guess you have the raffle trans in now.

Glad you got through that hurdle, i don't want to win by default.

LOL, Sure you don't want a set of 317 heads with dual patriot golds, and a Z06 cam, just to give you a fair chance against Jeff???

there is no way i'd have time to install that stuff prior to NATS.

but feel free to ship them to me. I'll pm you my address, and will cover shipping expenses  Out of curiosity, what's your asking price?

What controller are you running for your trans? I just need to resolve TCC lockup on mine but otherwise my 80e is running good, glad your is too.
