Re: Typhoon #2016. Twin Turbo LS1
Guess i could update this thread....it was an, um, interesting week for me. I drove the truck 60mi for the longest trip i've driven it since my NATS escapade. I got to where i was going, and started spewing fuel. The g/f actually noticed it running down the driveway...so i shut it down and look underneath and i'm leaking fuel quite quickly. great. jack the thing up and get a closer look, and turns out the bracket that held the fuel lines up wasn't bolted in at all (tranny was out twice since i purchased the truck, so someone failed to bolt it back up at some point)...and the braided line was just resting on the prop shaft. Well the balance washer thats welded to the prop ended up wearing a hole into the braided line. great!
So i tried to maguyver 2 different fixes, neither of which would work so that i could drive it home...so i ordered new black nylon hosing, got the line, and fixed it then drove home a few days later (thurs night).
Well my parents are visiting this weekend for the psu football game, and they wanted to go for a ride in the truck since i neglected to do so at NATS...came home at lunchtime and scooped them up and go for a ride. I got about 1/4mi from my house, step on it for a shift and some boost and something pops. great.
take my foot off the throttle and my tach stays at like 2500rpms. no biggie, throttle often sticks a lil just normally at low rpms....blip the throttle, tach doesnt fall. wtf. shift into neutral and it tachs up even higher. great. so i shut her off and pull over. pop the hood, and a plate on the weiand intake manifold...isnt bolted down, just snuggly fit via rubber gasket/grommet...and it popped completely off and was resting on the side of the motor. great. so i push it back in, and seems to be snug. but mind you im only at 6lbs of boost...there is no way thats gonna hold for anything higher if it already pops out 6psi. so i need to find a new plate that can be bolted down, or make something if i can find it. But when its not on make for like a 1.5" diamater hole..so it was like i was stuck at half throttle. it was much fun...so glad my g/f and my parents were there to enjoy it with me.
i'm still chasing a problem where the truck cuts out during idle surge...at idle i'm seeing like 11.9 afrs which seems stupidly rich. but im wondering if i'm leaking air through that stupid intake manifold plate port thing that popped off.
so as always with these trucks...its a game of hide and seek to figure out whats wrong.
