Re: Typhoon Bolt in 4 Link Success

For the SY, if you change the upper bar location to account for the gas tank, would that possibly have an effect on the geometry? As for the matl selection, CS fits the bill, no pun intended.
The end links or bushings you are thinking of using do you have any pics on that? I have used Jonny joints before on my dads chevelle, but there is not alot of "Bushing" matl inside for wear or vibration. It also would be a wear item. I used spherical rod ends in my S-10 when I 4 linked it 15 years ago(not alot of selection then) and you do feel everything. Not great for a daily driver. I guess it all comes down to personal preference. I am very excited to see the prototype pics. I was hoping you would offer something like this. Your workmanship on the other items I've purchased have been awesome. Wish I could weld like that...LOL

Put me down for one when the SY package is ready with an adder to have the 7.5 & 8.5 bracket.

I personally hate heim joints for a street car. They are noisy, harsh, etc.

On my personal truck several years ago I used all urethane bushings front and rear. It has rode well, but I always felt there was some binding.

For this effort I did a combination of a urethane on one end, and johnny joint on the other. Idea is Johnny takes away the binding without the noise/hassles of a true Heim. From the testing it has worked well. Will they last 100k miles, maybe not. Good news is they are rebuildable.

Of course being they are all replaceable someone could swap out to whatever style they want without much effort.

Since I see some more recent posts, thought I would update the "plan".

As most know, syty parts is not a full time business for me, never has, nor do I plan for it to be. Just an extension of my personal drive in syty world to support my own toys and help everyone else with some good much needed parts.

I have a few other projects that need to be completed (typhoon part out, and torsion bar delete finish up). After that Hardman and myself are working on bringing flange cutting in house for this project, which will give me a lot more flexibility for prototyping and to have options (such as 8.5" rear).

My guess is Jan 1st for the first batch. We are happy with how the design came out, how the truck rides, etc. Just a matter of clearing up old projects before we start in on this one in a production environment.

Sy kit is possible, obviously I want to tackle one thing at a time. Some of the components will be the same and carry over, others not so much. Depending on how ty sales go, how much work the kit is in production, etc we possibly will look into it.
