Valve cover spacers

Who sells valve cover spacers for a FAIR price? Only ones I can seem to find are for like $200. Kind of steep if you ask me. These are going to have to be for the Vortec valve covers that are going over Crane gold 1.6 rockers.

My stock valve covers work with Crane 1.6 rockers?

Did you try them. Don't know why yours would be hitting.

The problem is, I hate the stock valve covers. I have the plastic Vortec valve covers and REALLY want to keep them. More than the stock covers, I cant stand the sheet metal ones, I think they are hideous, Just my opinion of course.

I dont know anyone that makes spacers for us. they are very very prone to major leaking and a huge hassle. get the sheetmetal ones and paint or coat them to your fav color.

No offence but VC's don't add HP. If they fit and are cheap then it's up to you if it's worth $200+ bucks just for a "a look". I didn't mean to butt in but I know your watching your money and alway's looking to do things for as little as possible. Like Tooky said "Flame suit on!" sorry.... just trying to help you save more of your money for the stuff that does "go fast".

I have a set I used on some plastic VORTEC covers. I paid $150 for them. I'll let you have them for $75 shipped.

I can send pics tomorrow morning if interested. PM me for more details

If you are only looking for a little bit more height just rtv two rubber gaskets together let them dry then bolt them in place. You will gain .060 to .080 with no leaks.

None taken, I am just that guy who goes out to a restaurant and always knows what he wants, know what I mean? The Vortec covers, IMO, have the BEST look out of any cover I have ever seen. Plus, I just found a sweet pair in the junk yard that actually have the correct holes for everything. The ones I bought in 03 had f'ed up holes on the pass side for the PCV stuff, i.e., not very doable. These also came with the long filler neck I have always wanted. Oh well, we'll see what I can come up with.

Did you run them? If so how long and did they leak? I am interested.

The vortec covers arent like the stock ones with that big rubber gasket. You have a rubber gasket still but it has to pinch up inside a groove so that definately would not work.

I thought that you could fit the crane golds under Vortec valve covers with shorter poly locks. I was under the impression that it would fit as that is what I owned and bought. I never did fiot them as I am now going to be using the later rocker shafts with Vortecs.

I dont know, I put one on last night without the lock and they hit the top of the rockers. Unless there is something I dont know.

I used the spacers on daron's sy, as we wanted more the stock look. Another seal to leak but they do work.

I believe you that they don't fit, I must have misunderstood someone when making my build plan (or someone recomended them to me without any experience)

How much more clearance do you *think* that you need? The problem with a spacer from a fabrication standpoint is that you start off with a plate and when you're done, you have just a frame left. Everthing else is scrap unless you can use the material that will be cut out from the center for something...
