hmmm, allignment pins? You have a pic what they look like?
The clip is there

Both those little alignment pins were missing off your rear corner. It's just a little plastic stem that sticks up. Theoretically, as long as the bolt is tight it's not really going to move. You could loosen the bolt up a little, line the two pieces up, hold them like that, and tighten the bolt. You can try that, it should help. On a couple trucks I've taken apart, the bolts were so rusted togather, I had to pull the rear corner, rear arch, and side quarter cladding(the piece in front of the rear tire) togather. I pulled those 3 pieces off as one, then cut the rusty bolts off to seperate the 2 pieces. That's a big pain in the ass, lol.

I took a brillo pad and a little aluminum polish to the A/C components and installed my new RPM hose that my mother got me for my birthday! (Gotta love Sicilian mothers) It looks nice under the hood:tup:

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

I got a few more things done on my truck. My plan was to drop the tranny pan, install the new Derale pan, plumb in my new tranny coolers, change oil, and check a couple little things. Should be no biggie right.... Until I realize one of the transmission pan bolts is broke off. DAMMIT!!! And of course it's one of the back ones, right next to the crossmember, so it's a bitch to get to. Well, I drilled a hole up the middle of it, and with an easy-out and a little heat from a portable mapp gas torch, it came out! Hell yeah!! Installed my new Derale pan, filled the fluid back up, and now I'm good to go. That Derale pan is deeper then stock, and I added two large tranny coolers, and obviously some line(hose) between the two. I'm not sure what the total trans capacity is yet, but it's a lot. I still need to get it up to operating temp and top it off hot, but I think I have 9 quarts in it so far. Yeah, when I saw that bolt I was pretty frustrated. But I got it out, got the new pan on, fluid filled, and changed the oil/filter. Now I have to put the new wipers on it, and button up a coulple little things, then I'll be ready to start packing for Nats!

Put the Ty on the lift. Changed the trans fluid and filter for the first time since the O-haul 7 years ago. Pan was clean, nothing in it after 30K miles. Changed the T-case fluid, it was a little dark, but no bronze thrust-washer material in it. Front pads look fine, no leaks, engine oil was just changed awhile back.

Looks like I'm ready for Nats. 4,200 miles, here we go again....

I thought you couldn't change the trans fluid because it will slip. I've heard that the clutches break up and give it more grip, but once you change it the clutches are all clean and it will slip.

Thats only on trans that have go alone time without the tranny fuild being changed like 70k or 80k miles then when you change it you get rid of the clutch materal that is in the old fluild. So if oyu change it regualrly you will be fine.

I haven't changed mine since 2000. I was afraid that it would slip. I changed the filter, fluid and put lubeguard. I had 51,370 miles and now I have 91,800. Should I change it?

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

I had a new windsheild installed. It was not pretty under there though. As you may have guessed, a crappy previous windsheild replacement left the paint scored, and now the surround has lots of semi-hidden rust. CRAP! The new glass sure is pretty though. It's the only thing I did on my "things to do before NATS" list.

Drove it, plan on snagging a stock 1st generation DSM blow off valve so I can get rid of this compressor surge, I've already lost one turbo.

Got mine ready today for the races this sunday!!! 1 gallon of torco accelerator to a fill of 93 octane!!! =107 Unleaded! This stough works great!! I paid $271 for 5 gallons shipped from Torco. Kinda expensive but well worth it! Should be good for 5 fillups. Shooting for 7.70s in the 1/8th. I will post videos Sunday night.:D

Got mine loaded up for Nats. And there's NO extra room. I was going to bring a cooler of beer, but there's not enough room. LOL, I'll have to get one of those styrofoam coolers at a gas station once we get there....

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

My mad pre-NATS thrash;
Rust repair and touch up paint repaired areas...after new windsheild install pulled up paint and rust. OUCH! Repaint wiper stalks, paint rear drums, paint center caps, paint lug covers, cut off hub ends to fit the caps. Removed the spare...I need room for all the body parts coming home with me. Interior vac, a few little paint touch up spots...not from rust. I still need to finish the engine hold down, wash and wax, and spary down the engine compartment.

SEE YOU ALL FRIDAY!

I have washed mine made sure i had the snap-on scanner behind the seat. All i need to do is load up it up on the trailer and fill the silverado up with gass and add clothes and a tool box and a tent and a few other things! I'll be prepared for any problems that may occur(i hope)

BTW I'm in need of a jack and all the items to stow it away and the cover for my sy. Is there anybody that has on for sale.

Re: What did you do to your SY/TY today?

Dave,

I told my dad about the changing the trans fluid, and he told me that he always thought highly of your knowledge about these trucks so we changed the fluid and filter today. We had a B&M trans cooler since day 1 and also a Derale trans pan. The fluid looked good and we also added lubeguard. We followed George Blakes post on the correct break in method for new fluid. We test drove it and everything seems fine and the shifts are firm.

Thanks

Put some 2" lowering blocks in the Sy, and now she rides on the bumpstops. Great. I will be going back to stock before Nats.

Cut the bumpstops to make them shorter. I have the lowerings springs and will only ocassionally hit the stops.
