What did you do to your SyTy today? (part 2)

Re: What did you do to your SyTy today? (part 2)

Had my PLX M300 take a shit on me, kept reading "14.71" the whole time (it's in the glovebox, so I never really pay it any mind). New sensor was done a week ago, so the PLX is the lone culprit. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until *after* I'd done a little playing around on the freeway. "Why is the knock light flashing (I have a TurboTweak chip so I have some visual indicator)", and "Weird, it's never stumbled on take off before...."

New narrowband O2 done today, pulled the M300 out. In a week, I'm going to do what I should have done in the first place, and buy a new DM6 instead of a used M300.

At least I have alky, otherwise I'd probably be looking through the tops of the pistons to the oilpan underneath.

Lesson learned: Buy new.

Yep.. I know it's not some fancy $59 setup with a Ostrich, but damn.... it WORKS.

Also, datalogging with DM last night to make sure I wasn't feeling any after effects, I had my son watching the lappy seeing a bunch of "Lost Comm" or "data error" messages. So now I get to figure out track the ALDL communication issues. ;)

Joy. It never ends.

Re: What did you do to your SyTy today? (part 2)

Been traveling lately so I haven't had time to post much sans a few one liners from my phone in other threads. I was a little dissapointed I drove from Arizona to Connecticut and didnt see a single Syclone or Typhoon.

Anyways, Im stuck on a plane for the next two hours so no better time than now! Thank you Southwest WiFi.

In the last few months installed...

-Front Coilovers using the Sportmachines A-Arms, QA1s, and LS1 brakes. Killer looking.
-New hubs and cv axles up front.
-Poly front diff carrier bushings and fluid.
-Changed PS fluid, super nasty.
-Belltech rear springs and QA1 shocks, ditched the drop blocks.
-JTR setback plates.
-Caltracs.
-Replaced turbo oil return (Leaked bad)
-Brake booster line.
-Powdercoated front swaybar and new bushings.

Obviously the truck drives completely different now. I'm amazed at the difference the Caltracs made in keeping the truck straight while accelerating.

Need to install the RPM torsion bar delete crossmember this week when I get back. I had it powdercoated so it wasn't done by the time I swapped everything, looks like a very nice piece and super light.

Also finishing up FAST XFI install with the assistance of my buddy Brain. Cleaning up some minor wiring while we're at it related to the battery relocation, and maybe some vac lines. I also powdercoated (black) and sanded the top of the plenum since it was off.

I'll try to take and post some pics of the progress later this week.

I had a short block (4 bolt, Oliver Rods, forged pistons, 30 over) that i picked up here gone through and rebuilt. Not sure if it's going to make it into the truck this summer or wait until the winter to swap but its all done and ready to go. Also struggling with the idea of going to a front facing converted intake or sticking with the stock (vortec converted) intake that's on the truck now.

Have a spare transfer case to go through also - starting to squirrel away 4l80 parts so I'll be pulling that apart soon to swap the input shaft on it while I check it out.

Thats about it I guess for now. By the time I'm done too I've realized I'll basically have a second complete 11 second drivetrain (have another frame also) so in the background of all this I've been plotting to come up with something silly to put on top of it. (Super beat-up S10, Isuzu Hombre, etc). Thatll be super back burner of course but at some point...

Final cut & polished the hood and entire driver side. Decided to hit the tailgate again with 1500. Tomorrow I'll finish that and hopefully the pass side.

Looks great Sean
PM me with the method you're using. I bought one of the 3M headlight polishing kits to polish my replacement remote oil filter housing... started on it last night. It works really well, but will be almost impossible to get down into the crannies and crevices. I'd like to know what material you use to polish. Thanks, Rob

Drove it to work all week, feels tight. I still need to dial in the coilovers a bit. The brake upgrades (f-body F & R & Hoods ABS delete) are a HUGE improvement.

Hey Rob, Harbor Freight sells a aluminium polishing kit that has small cone and other drill buffer wheels. I used Mothers aluminium polish paste and hit my snowmobile tunnel. Worked great.:2cents:

OK... Since I'm stubborn, and I hate seeing something not working... I ordered a new pair of 6 pin connectors (with terminals!). Cut out the old one, and crimped/soldered the replacement in. Reinstalled the WBO2 sensor....

WE HAVE LIFE!

Yep.... working OK now. So, I'm keeping my eye on it for a while, but I think the old connector was shot to shit.

Sprayed the inside of the drivers door with bed liner spray and installed sound deadener on the interior side. Going to do the passenger side tonight. Ordered new inside door handles from LMC truck.
