Yah, I archived all the old email list stuff (joined in '97...edit...'96; just checked the archives...) and still refer back to it occasionally... get a chuckle from some of the 'vigorous discussions'.

I've been roaming around since 98, don' tremember when I actually joined. I try to stay out of the arguments, leave the bs to those who need it.

Who remembers the OLD chat room we had in the mid-late 90s? I remember when Dig or Brian G would come online and they would be bombarded with questions. Mainly from me. :) Great times.

I noticed that alot of the comments have indicated a change on this site. What exactly does everyone mean about that? I have only been around for a few months and i think it is a great site. It has helped me out alot.

It was better in what way? Is it something we can look into to make it as good as it was back in 96 - 97. Just curious.

I don't believe the change comments were directed towards this site... it has been pretty much the same since it started in 2000. I think they were talking about, at least I was, the change in the community overall.

Go read the archives of the mailing list going back to 1997-2000 or so. It use to be all about fun and helping each other. It was more about fun and making progress then as now its about being in a "cliq" (spelling?) and who you can make fun of.

Back in 1999 the chitown guys would get together and go to PTE for their great tech sessions, we all learned alot from that. Now you can't get that same group together in a room without a fight or shit talking...

I think the current site is better due to technology and sheer number of members, but it's also lost a lot of the integrity and quality that we had back several years ago. A lot of the pioneering members of this board (in tech advancement) have fallen to the wayside. Guys like Jeff Stabell, Green, Todd A., etc.... don't post anymore and the quality posts that we used to see from guys like that are definitely missed.

There is a lot more noob stuff that goes on around here in the way of bickering, asking redundant questions, calling out others, etc.... that used to not be present on the board/list. A lot of that has driven away the OG's and makes it hard for a lot of those who have stayed to justify it.

And maybe it's a side effect of us having figured out these trucks to the extent that you don't see the ground-breaking posts that you used to see. Maybe there's just not enough stuff left to revolutionize on these trucks. I'd like to think that's the reason, but I'm afraid it's not.

All I know is that I miss the BDubb/Green photoshop wars. :(
