remove rod from wastegate flapper arm, move flapper back and forth, up and down to check for play. you could be losing boost thru flapper. stock wastegate boost control blows.

Looks like its set at about 10psi, but if there's play then that's whats "leaking" the boost and causing it to spike. Do what quick storm said :tup:

With the lower I/C out of the way idler is piece of cake, 2 bolts to the frame and 1 nut to the center link. Pitman arm can be a big PIA, If GM was smart they would've put a hole through the crossmember so you can get mondo-the-big-socket on there, but they didn't so it would be easiest to pull the power steering pump out of the truck to get it off ( I did mine in the truck, it just sucks ). One large nut holds the Pitman to the power steering pump ( if you don't have a puller you can cut it off if your careful ) and one nut holding it on the center link.

Always something. I think I'll take it to a garage. Got a guy who will do both plus ball joints and tie rod ends for $250.

Hey Doc....you're probably more than capable of doing it yourself...I've done a few projects like that...it just takes time, and tools, and a snack somewhere in the middle, lol...that's my :2cents: anyways....

Update: as far as the truck running it's never been better. Starts on first turn, idle nice a smooth, runs pretty good, I still have a slight lag and the psi doen't hit and stay at a constant 14psi. But all in all I'm really starting to like this truck.

I think I have a rear main seal leaking. Thought it was the trans at first but it's not tranny fluid it's oil. It's coming from behind the oil pan and about where the bell housing is.

Oil pressure gauge seems to be a little low too. When I'm on the gas it goes back up and stays but at idle it's almost in the red. How accurate is that thing?

They aren't very accurate but if it's that low, you may wanna continue to keep an eye on your oil level. I doubt the motor is hurt though.

Yeah, still having boost problems now. I think it may be a combo of my timing and FP. I'm gonna get my light out tomorrow and time it and check the FP again to be sure.

It's hitting 14.5 then droppnig to 10ish and slowly works back to 14.5 then drops to 10.....

I wish I could get DataMaster working!!! Ran out of trials. :(


It's still running much better than when I bought it. I need to upgrade the front suspension with some new stuff namely idler arm. I got a "pop" on the right fron side when I turn left. Not a click but more of a pop when I hit smalls bumps turning hard left. Shock gone bad? Body bushing at the A arm is bad too.

Ok I set my FP to 38psi with vac line on. Not sure where my timing is but the truck is running hard. Only prob is I'm still getting boost flux. Hmm....

your gonna need a boost controller, since the PL chip does not control boost like the ultimate
