Re: Front Differential Removal

I need to redo my front differential bushings after I get the truck smogged today. Maybe I can help out at that time. I have the bushing already and will be starting this job in the next 2 weeks if my work schedule will allow it.

You should ask DaveP, he knows a lot about these trucks.

Old fella must be on another roadtrip..... On his way back to Florida to retire with the other geezers?

Regardless, looking forward to seeing how this thread works out.

Re: Front Differential Removal

Well I just got back from the smog test and my tester said that the truck was really clean even with a 160* stat in it. I have decided to start on the front diff bushing tomorrow and will be putting the truck up on stands after it cools off some.

Very nice write up indeed. X2 for the vault. I have the airtools, but I don't have the lift. So I will be doing it on the floor of the garage. I will let you know how it work out on the floor. I have been delay starting mine for 1 week.

I did all mine on the floor. Get it up as high as practical, Make sure jack stands are secure and stable. Remove front wheels for better access. You'll need the ball-joint pullers from Post Tool. Get the big one and the little one. Cheap and well worth it. If this is a first time be prepaired to put some heat on the driveline bolts. They have loc-tight and won't come loose otherwise.

X3. This will be vaulted soon. So if anyone what's to add their :2cents: do it now because once it is moved to the vault, no one will be able to post in this thread...

When I do mine, I will be taking alot of pictures. Would it be possible to add pictures to the write up later ? I will be ordering the last parts that I need this Friday. I will then get the job done.
