Re: random sy ty thought of the day
In general, they don't break. The stock trans and rear end can hold 600 whp and the crank, rods and pistons live as well. Some have been running around with as much as 750-800 whp with stock short block, trans and rear. That's pushing the limit on engine life but guys are doing it and driving them often. How the "over engineering" of these cars ever passed the bean counters is beyond me.
Speaking of engineering, I'd like to talk to the guys that made the decisions on our trucks as some things don't make sense to me ie: the intercooler that doesn't work until block temp is 205 and by that time you have either been on the boost and detonated enough to kick out the rods (ask how many warranty blocks were installed) or have heat soaked the system parts to make it very inefficient and my questions go on from there...
If there had been a Syclone or a Typhoon in Fast and the Furious movie instead of the Surpa we would be sit'n pretty. Look at what that movie did for the price of Supras.
Sent the prices thru the roof. I paid more than I wanted for mine but it is all worth it. Searched high and low to find a clean, virgin, black, 6 speed TT. Talk about driving with a naked chick on the hood. Girls instantly want to be with you (unfortunately it is usually just as far as the passenger seat) and they are usually too young to be worth your time. But an attention getter for sure!!
The price is the only reason I dont own one. Syclones are much more affordable. I think..... Depends if Supras break just as much as our trucks do.
