Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Thanks, just ordered, however what sucks is they no longer have the one that is on Z Ski's, similiar but it doesn't say Thunder Racing, it's just engraved TR or something to that effect. I just ordered it and will post a pic!

Its the same cover. Both are made by TA Performance. For a while Thunder Racing milled off the TA logo and put there own on it. I have the same engraving on my Impala SS and the Sy. Gotta match right.

You should hit up Mike (Sy2932) he may be willing to engrave something custom on there like the 4.3 TURBO font. It looks killer

Thanks for the props :)! Unfortunately everything that I have CNC'd so far this year has been for other people. Haven't cut a single piece for my truck yet... I have another differential cover for a member that I was about to pull the trigger on tonight until I ran out of time :(.

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

That would have been sweet! When I get around to pulling the rear of my truck apart, hopefully you can put something together for me. Paul and I both love the 4.3 Turbo cover you made.

Well the motor is at the machine shop right now getting fixed. John @ xplicit racing has not returned any of my calls in the last 10 days or so. Maybe i am stuck fixing it myself:tdown:

sorry to hear that man - :( Hope it doesn't work out too bad.

Can you send a letter from a solicitor or something to shimmy him along?

Have you done engine stuff before? The more I learn about these trucks the more I value the info - in a few years there';ll be even less people that know what they're doing.

Not that I would say I know what I am doing just yet

If it's not one thing, it's another. Hopefully he calls you soon so we can get that motor in there and go have some fun in that thing.

On another note, my truck is making a disturbing knocking sound from the left front suspension when turning. It's grounded until I can find out what the hell is making noise. I'm sure something came loose, but hopefully nothing broke. Call me sometime this week.

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Well I called John every day this week with no answer or return call.

Motor is at the machine shop and is getting fixed. This time around the crank will be nitriated, I will do a block fill, the o-rings will be removed by decking the block so i can run cometics, and she will get some new .040over JE pistons. I will also feel better knowing that it is done correctly this time and it wont blow up on me.

I am also at the point that I am going to start putting parts back on the truck instead of taking parts off.:D

Last weekend my pops and I removed the frame brace that is in front of the torsion bar mount. My goal was to notch and reinforce it so we could get the transfer case in and out without removing the the trans with it.

My idea came to a halt when I realized that the torsion bar mount kinda sits inside the frame brace. So notching the frame brace would have been pointless since I cant notch the torsion bar mount.

So now we made the frame brace easy to remove if I ever blow the transfer case up. 4 bolts and it is out. I think that removing the torsion bar mount, torsion bars, and frame brace is much easier than removing the entire trans to replace the transfer case.

Well thats it for now. I am going to paint some of the frame this weekend, install the ES body bushings, and start installing the suspension. Now we are into the fun part.

See ya,

You have a beautiful truck and you have worked your butt off. Don't lose hope now. I got my truck with everything in a box because someone gave up. They quit while tring to put it together. It was so close and they just quit. Stay at it, I really like your work and that SY. Finish strong.

Maybe John needs to be put in the dog house, I would think that you have more than enough infor to put him there.

Hope things start turning around for you on your engine. I had quite a few problems myself when I built my motor. It can be frustrating and discouraging.

Everybody hates April 15th , maybe it will be a good day for you when you talk to John at Xplicit Racing. Just wanted to tell you I hope he does what is right with you. You are a good guy and you treat people right, they say what goes around comes around.
GOOD LUCK PAUL

Re: Syclone Gut Swap

Thanks Lloyd, Ray, And Mario.

I talked to John yesterday and he is going to cover the cost of sleveing the bad cylinder, turning the crank, balancing the rotating assembly, and new crank, rod, and cam bearings. That covers the ammount of damage that he was liable for.

I have the rear suspension all ready to go back in. I will get that done this wekend and will update with new pics.

See ya,

nice that the engine is squared away. You'll know it will be right now. Are you going to run code 59 with an ostrich?
