    Remove oil pan in truck?

You messed up, Rick. A: if the nylon sleeve is on the oil pump you can drop the stock drive shaft in from the top, push on it lightly, and it will 'pop' into the sleeve. B: If the nylon sleeve is NOT on the oil pump, you're screwed. You can't install the Melling shaft with the permanent metal...

    Tech. Wheels and Tires

255/50/16 is the 84-87, and some 88 C4 Corvette size. The peeps on Corvette Forum have been lamenting the lack of availability of 255/16's in a street tire for several years. BFG G-Sports are now licensed to Coker Tire for reproduction. Supposedly, there was a run of 300 tires, (75 sets) last...

    Crankcase venting

I did this to my red/gry that I sold 14 years ago. I had a bent paper clip bent up that would go in the hole and push the needle back around. I could take the light switch panel out, push the needle back, put the light panel back in before the pump clicked off. The hole is undetectable with the...

    Josh's Syclone build thread

Not necessary. The pump runs continuously when the engine is running down the highway and doesn't 'overheat', why would it overheat by pumping fuel at less pressure into a jug? If anything, the battery may go weak pumping out a full tank. Its gonna' take awhile. The gas is probably ok for use...

    Josh's Syclone build thread

Never done this, but I think it would work: Disconnect the fuel line from the inlet side of the fuel filter. Push a length of 3/8 hose (clear vinyl with no reinforcement braid would be easiest to push on) over the end. Put it in a container. Use the fuel pump test connector on the firewall to...

    Electric fans and ac wiring

Connect it to the lt green wire at the switch on the accumulator. The fan will run whenever the AC controls are in AC. If you connect it to the clutch, it will 'work' but the fan goes off and on with the clutch. Even after the clutch cycles off, there is heat in the condenser that will...

93 Ty #272 on BaT (sold)

I wrote this for the BaT auction, but my shit always gets flagged. I've got a problem with piles of shit that ought to be on Craig List or in the junk yard being on BaT detracting from the good ones that should be there. My comments get flagged a lot for not being "constructive". My comments...

    New Shifter Boots

I saw a link for these on Corvette Forum today. The C4 Corvette boot is identical to the SyTy boot. $59 isn't too bad for a truck being prepped for BaT. https://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx/1984-1989-c4-corvette-shifts-boots-automatic/

    Fuel pressure at 70lbs

I have zero experience with E85 in SyTy, but I know the volume of fuel required is much greater than gasoline. The E85 cars I've seen have up-sized everything. Lines, pick-ups, fuel rails, injector sizes, remote regulators, pumps. Everything gets changed. In the meantime, for a streetable SyTy...

    Fuel pressure at 70lbs

They say don't use the 450 for "stock" applications. The "too small" restriction is the stock fuel regulator itself. Up-sizing the hose after the regulator won't do squat to fix it.

Make & model that used 3 bar MAP?

The engine stays running with the MAP disconnected. The ECM uses a fixed calibration from the CALPACK. The engine should run and be driveable with the MAP disconnected. It won't drive well, but it will move. Beats walking. I just went out and confirmed this on my stock calibration 93.

    OEM RADIO FOR A SYCLONE

There are 2 possibilities. Look at your glove box sticker for UM6 or UX1. Here is a thread about the subject and that describes the differences from a few years ago.

    Syclone Seat Belts

I am almost positive that 1st Gen 4-door S Blazer has the same seat belt / retractors as Syclone. (I used to know for sure, but it has been a long time, and I no longer own a 4-door to take a look at to confirm.) There are a couple of different height buckle ends. Again, IIRC the pick-ups have...

92 typhoon #10 on Hemmings (sold)

I wonder why Tom wanted it? Particularly at 20K? It won't cost him much to prepare it for re-sale, he knows what he's doing. Both the selling dealer and Tom are in Florida. He may have conducted a personal inspection, and looked over the documentation. Perhaps he's thinking it will have appeal...

    PCV help

The SyTy throttle body is the same as the TPI throttle bodies used on Y and F car from 1985 to 1991. In a normally aspirated configuration, under certain operating and environmental conditions, ice can form in the throttle body preventing the throttle from closing when released. In a...

    PCV help

There are 2 PCV valves on a metal "T" thing on the passenger valve cover. The aft PCV valve connects to the nipple on the throttle body that is a passage to plenum vacuum. The forward PCV valve on the passenger side goes to a nipple in the crossover before the turbo inlet. The pressure drop...

    New to the turbo world.

When working on the turbo (usually the drain pipe to renew the hose on to the oil pan) I always remove the RF tire and inner wheel housing. Takes about 3 minutes with air tools. Much better, easier access to the turbo, wastegate, and the exhaust bolts.

    Cam swap

For the A/C condenser, you can loosen the line nuts, rotate the condenser high enough for the cam to go below it, and tighten the nuts so you don't loose the charge while you work. Loosen them again to put the condenser back down. I doubt the bumper will be too close. Perhaps the center hood...

    Checking in

I still talk to a handful of SoCal regulars from time to time. Paul Z Z-ski, Jason jaysctb, Kuros rexxennexx. Jason no longer has a truck, but Paul and Kuros have theirs. I still have my 93 Ty, just completed a 3,000 mile round trip to Dallas and back without opening the hood the way I used to...

    Sy 536 on BaT (sold)

Who is Joe Sketti and dgm33? These two guys have been chattering-up every SyTy auction for about a year. They add nothing and are derogatory to others wanting to participate in discussion. There used to be a bunch of SyTy peeps commenting in the BaT auctions. Sometimes they knew the trucks...
