Yep, that's it. It is a pretty common problem with S10 trucks. Supposedly you have to replace the switch that is inside the steering column. I was looking in the service manual and there are a couple different electrical things in there, so I'm not sure which one causes the problem...

That's interesting that they cleared the Cranes with no problem. I tried the Vortec covers with my Comp Cams Pro-Magnum self aligning rockers and they wouldn't even go on all the way. I think it would have taken a double gasket plus some grinding, so I just put the stock covers back.
