Re: 4L80E arrived today

Thanks guys - was beginning to think I was the only one reading this! I appreciate the encouragement. Believe me, I need it!

Any advice on the car cover?

Dowel pins are about to get ordered! Hopefully meeting with The Butcher in Kuwait next week as well.

More pics to follow soon I hope.

More pics.

The most interesting one is of the chassis which has been coated with an ablative anti rust compound called Zing I believe. A friend recommended it and he has it on his TVR Cerbera chassis - he swears by it.

The chassis should be getting powder coated in the next few days. The rest of of the pics are just encouraging. If you read back I have been having some problems with body shop guy - seems a little fire under his ass was just the ticket and there is some progress being made.

The body is going on the chassis with new body mounts and the door hinges and bushes are being replaced as well. It will almost be as good as new apart from the cracked dash. That sounds like a pain to fix :(

Can anyone recommend a car cover? I am also interested in those mats that cover the front wings for when I am working on the engine. Any hot tips?

Mate,

you have NO idea how much I appreciated that comment. I guess my project isn't as interesting as others, and I am terrified I have bitten off more than I can chew :( but the odd bit of encouragement makes the world of difference!

Hoping for some more pics after the weekend. :D

Thanks again!

Thanks mate :D

can you elaborate on the control arms? The guys doing tbe body and blasting is prob going to reassemble them with the original parts but now you mention it I could probably do with installing the energy suspension poly components. Is that what you meant?

Mate, you are totally right  . Got an order coming this way :D . I had some other stuff to get so this was a good excuse.

get this: the dowel pins I was after ( from jegs / summit) came to over $100 after they had added shipping etc. It was a $4 part I think.

Anyway, more pics hopefully by the end of the week.....

I wish I was able to do some work on the truck rather than just buying stuff. I can't wait to get back from here and work on it... :(
