A ton of lost knowledge and experience...

Re: A ton of lost knowledge and experience...

let him be its his choice

story time:
In the Buick turbo world their was a racer/legend named Buddy who was well respected and revered.
He had set SPEED records- and was at the top of the world in his knowledge on these cars.
However he never shared any secrets and always keep it to himself EVEN WHEN ASKED.

Well one day poor Buddy died and took all that knowledge with him LOST FOREVER.
and the people he didn't help - didn't give a ****

you forgot to add in there two other wonderful traits of buddy

-bash members who didn't agree totally on his views
-bash trucks for sale without having any first hand knowledge on them

:). It could always be worse. I mean, I could be 1/2 blind. Just sayin............

Or so out of touch with reality that you think you know something.

How'd that SRT-10 thingy go?

:haha: oh well.

Re: A ton of lost knowledge and experience...

I had it out with him to a degree in chat.

He said a few things:

He'll never post on this forum again.
He changed his password so he can't recover it - too difficult
He altered his email address so any recovery attempt goes to "vapour"

He claims that he only deleted posts that weren't helpful or that were of no use.
He said he never deleted posts that were at the start of threads.
He doesn't want to participate yet still browses the forum - (he saw this thread, my post and I decided to respond when he insulted me, hence the chat exchange)

All of those statements are untrue or there is evidence to the contrary. RMcCourt and I have both found useful posts/threads that he ruined and there are literally thousands of other posts that have gone.

I googled DesertSy and all the image links of photos from his photobucket albums are deleted and the albums are empty. Presumably the other tech photos he shared are gone as well.

I was encouraged to write my own tech/info articles but info he wrote was also gleaned from articles on the internet - if people stopped sharing info, where would they be? I think if he truly doesn't wish to post on here then he'll be remembered as a bitter and malicious individual.

I maintain that this wholesale deleltion of info did absolutely no good.
I think Syclone Rob's mentioning of the 15 min edit rule is a good one and I think that if you publish on this public forum, you abbrogate your rights to copyright and the posts should become the property of the forums. Terms and conditions should reflect this.

I don't know what you meant by poking the bear Jimmy but he seems pretty adamant to be of as little use to anyone on here as he can be.

I think it's a shame. I didn't have personal issue with Dave despite his occasional lashing out but this is different.

This is sad,annoying and wrong.

He must be a very tragic individual to deny so many so much useful and interesting information.

Re: A ton of lost knowledge and experience...

I guess I don't know the full story but to go and delete every post you've made is an emotional decision and I am not a big fan of those. The "OGs" , big guns and old timers need to understand that this forum and these trucks are not theirs. I am a rookie to an extent and while I do use the search function as much as I can sometimes I post a question that I have and almost every time someone will help and another will say "search for it." In 20 years I'm sure every problem that was gonna be had has been had so questions are going to be repeated, new people are gonna need a little knowledge and if someone on here would rather bitch about noobs than help then go find a new hobby. Times change, people come and go, feelings get hurt and so on but back to the subject. Any knowledge lost can be found again. I'm sure he was a nice guy and I can say for certain that his posts helped me but it isnt like the world won't go on.

These trucks are cursed
Re: A ton of lost knowledge and experience...

I have over 10 years of time and money invested into these inglorious shitboxes and I don't know shit about nothin! That being said, there are a few repeat threads that I find annoying, especially if the info is readily available. But other various noob posts don't bother me that much, because if I happen to know the answer I feel like I can actually contribute to the site and be helpful for once.

We also need to understand that even though some similar situations have been previously covered, that not EVERY single problem that someone has had has been covered. Or it has been covered and there was no resolution at the end of the thread.

We were all noobs at one point, and I think this forum out of all the forums I've searched through is the most helpful. So many other car forums are chock full of bullshit or pointless stupid comments and memes that you have to sift through 15 pages just to see if there was a resolution, and most of the time there isn't.

I've seen a lot of the helpful and intelligent old timers come and go, and it sucks. People lose interest or come to their senses and realize how dumb these trucks are, and that's fine... but deleting posts to get back at people err whatever the motive is, is just silly. Why punish everyone else if you're pissed at a specific person(s)? It's about as pointless as blowing up a marathon.

Not well but I upped the ante with a 2007 Z06 and you vaporized. Mere proof the weed, cocaine, superglue and hairspray have not destroyed all your brain cells

You gonna have your Ty running by August.....I miss hearing it whistle by the house.

It wasn't moot until you made the suggestion that 1/2 bald men were 1/2 dead. If DaveP truly is reading this thread, I know you got him chapped with that statement.

What about his brothers account? Did someone search for all of the quadrajet posts?
Quadrajet72

I vote we stop talking about him. He isn't worth the time.

Sadly everyone is replaceable. Old timers at work think the company will fall apart when they retire. It never skips a beat.

What's the difference between Corvettes and porcupines?

Porcupines have pricks on the outside.

I'm pretty sure we'll see hell freeze over before that happens.
