I've spent most of the morning gathering receipts and getting ad's listed of trucks for sale in preparation for a fight with the insurance company if it comes to that. Anyone wanting to list your truck for a ridiculously high amount, feel free to do so now so I can print those off too. ;-)

The guy I bought my wrecked typhoon from just went through this process with his insurance company. The hold up we had was they wanted to lowball him on the adjustment. He wanted 10K they wanted to only give him 8K. He had to get his own insurance adjuster who then went through the truck with a fine tooth come adding up all the details and extras that were put on it to increase the adjustment.

Ie aftermarket items add up. Sterio, amps, wiring, speakers, suspension busing, aftermarket sway bars, brakes, cold air intake, gauages, etc.

He ended up in mediation with the insurance company since they were stalling paying him. In the end he accpeted a better offer from the insurance company. Bought it back and sold it to me. making more money than he would have just taking the original offer.

Some insurance buyouts are redicolously low (1000) for totaled vehicles, sometime they are rediculousy high (6000+).

Also each states have thier own policy on how salvage titles are issued. I am pretty sure I wouldn't get a salvage title in MA for Sy or Ty because of the age of the vehicle.

I would be BS if my Sy was outside getting more damage. I would be making every call o could to rectify that situation. I am still not sure what they are doing. They probably won't even finger print the vehicle.

Metro will hold it as long as they can to accrue storage fees.

Re: ALERT: 92 GMC Typhoon #1377 Stolen - nashville tn

I've called them. They are as ass-backwards as the rest of this state.

There are 2 different complaint numbers...1 from the shop and 1 from the business location where the truck was recovered.

OF COURSE, auto theft has "no record" of the complaint from when it was filed at the shop...They only have the complaint from when the business it was abandoned in front to come and get it. So it's sitting in impound technically as a "Recovered Property", not an auto theft.

The "detective" that's handling it of course isn't working today and will be in tomorrow, so I have left him a voicemail already and will be calling him tomorrow morning again if he doesn't call me first.

My local councilman helped me get the damn van out from in front of my place at the new house...maybe he can help me get shit OUT of impound now.

Can you at least slip the guy there a 5er to go throw a trash bag over where your window should be?

The police impound employees are about as worthless and helpful as our DMV employees.

It will just be racked up to another thing the insurance company is going to have to pay to have done (any water damage) assuming they don't total it.

Since it's not actually stolen according to them, expect a $200 flat fee + $15/day storage fees.

Bullshit. It was stolen. If they try and pull that shit, I will fight them and contact every single person in this city and county's legislature that has an email address and a phone number.

Unless, maybe, JUST MAYBE, I have the AutoBot Bright Package Edition GMC Typhoon that decided it sat still long enough, started itself up and took a cruise around town until it ran out of gas or blew itself up.

Well, no coolant at all in the truck and the intercooler and intake are separated at the rubber boot. Dash ****ed. Took the glovebox door i guess as a souvineir. Full report once i get it out and up on a rack.

Can't really tell in this picture, but the intercooler has pulled away from the "boot" and the upper intake...

Also, PRETTY PISSED OFF AT METRO PD RIGHT NOW, as it appears there is NO EVIDENCE that this thing was even finger printed.

BTW, the shops insurance company is:
The Main Street American Group

Anyone ever heard of or dealt with them?

Maybe it looks worse in person, but it doesn't look like too much work to put it back where it was. I guess the big question is the engine. Were you able to try and turn it on?

Nah. With it not having any coolant and not being able to look under the truck and see if there is anything ripped off, I didn't want to attempt to turn it over until all that can be inspected first.

they have several companies under that umbrella. They jerked me around when one of their crackhead drivers pulled in front of my wife and she hit him broadside. They took nearly a week and a half just to get us a rental car. The good news is that they use an appraisial company and not their own company appraiers. You are a little more likely to be able to negotiate with an independent one as far as value goes. No coolant is not a good sign combined with the seperated intercooler. I bet they were maxing out the boost for extended periods of time.
