Re: ALERT: 92 GMC Typhoon #1377 Stolen - nashville tn
now I assume you are getting a rental car correct? or did get one?
Negative. Wouldn't have been a bad idea though. But too late now. When my "counter-estimate" goes back, I'll make sure to mention that I didn't request one.
Any idea (or residue) on if they checked for prints or not?
Nope. They didn't do a damn thing.
I got it out of impound on the 9/16. On 9/17 I shot an email to the "detective" (Yes, using that term very lightly here) asking if he was planning on printing it. His response via email was he would do it "First thing on Wednesday (9/21)". Of course, Wednesday rolled around, nothing. Thursday he sent an email stating it would be done that day. Of course, nothing. The following Monday (9/26) I shot him a nice email. Of course, then he immediately calls me and emails me asking me to call him ASAP. Guessing he read the part of the email where I told him I will be emailing his superiors and the council members I know about my recent experiences with the auto theft department and NOW all of a sudden there is a sense of urgency.
It's a moot point now. I informed him in the email that I am not waiting any longer on him and that the thieves pretty much got a freebie on this one. Then pointed out that several GM High Performance Vehicles have been stolen in and around Middle Tennessee in the last month or so, and made sure to mention that with them attempting to remove the induction system, that there was a chance that all of this would be related.
At this point, it's a lost cause to attempt for them to do any investigation (I don't say "additional", because they obviously didn't do ANY investigation). I just now need to make sure that the superiors are aware and hopefully anyone in Davidson County in the future that has their vehicle stolen and recovered are treated and processed the way they SHOULD be from the METRO PD.
