Looks like a manual boost valve controler, zipped tied to the turbo to intercooler hose to me.

get that o2 sensor hooked up and maybe change the injectors, difference between leaded and unleaded is big.

ahhh good call!

that was probably hooked up to try and get the boost under control since it didnt have a cat.

so the lead eff's up the injectors? you'd think GM would've used different injectors to compensate... but then again judging off the cheesy bezel they threw in there, probably not... you think there'd be that much damage with such low mileage?

i don't think there is that much damage, but you have to consider:

1.how long has this truck run leaded fuel(deposists are differ than unleaded) and then switched over to leaded?
2.could some of those deposists get stuck in the inj. pintles?

i'm not trying to scare you away from the truck, just be cautious when fuel types are switched in a vehicle.

if you can talk it down a little bit, as the case that t-bone made, i'd consider it a great buy. good luck.

I would be more worried about replacing the o2 sensor than the injectors. Leaded fuel will "coat" the sensor making it give inaccurate readings. Several people have ran leaded race fuel at times , with no ill effects to injectors. But I am not an expert with the quality of saudi leaded gas either.

What ever you do you should proceed with caution!!! Be aware that you might have to spend some cash to make that Ty "right".:2cents:

exactly, i wasn't trying to make you change the injectors, just trying to shed a little light on your situation, who knows the quality of gas there is around ther anyway.

Re: hmmmm ok... so wtf??? saudi typhoon???

Well, while talking to the current owner today on the phone, he said that befoe he bought it he had taken it to a dealer where they did all the needed conversion steps to make it run fine on unleaded gas once again, this includes the guage cluster swap, and a chip swap and they installed a new O2, but they didnt to anything to the cat or exhasut, and once it go tback here to texas and emmision tested last year it failed becasue of no cat, so they guy put a cat on it and it passed just fine.

So im pretty sure everything has been done that is needed and its ready to go with no problems.

anyone want to bet the stock cluster made its way to the dumpster at the dealership after the swap? Sad thought isn't it......

Re: hmmmm ok... so wtf??? saudi typhoon???

Actually the guy said he might have it in a box of parts he got back from the dealership, he is checking today to see.

Well as ugly as that guage cluster is it woudl be a shame it if got thrown away like that.

Re: hmmmm ok... so wtf??? saudi typhoon???

yeah but its still a low mileage ty for decent price. Also after talking to the owner, he thought something was wrong with the transmission because it shifted so hard. He took it to the dealer and either they scammed him or they didnt know any better either... and told him the seals were probably dried out and needed to be replace and it was gonna cost $1000. so he figured if im gonna spend $1000 why not spend $3000 and get an entire new tranny put in. so the dealer tracked down an authentic syty tranny in michigan, and installed it. so its got a brand new tranny and a 3 year 36k warranty on it. so in a way that kinda makes up for the mileage.

...and really, how many of these trucks really have authentic low miles? its not that hard to unplug a wire harness and get free miles on these trucks.

i dunno what the price is you are going to pay for this truck, but the story is way to long for a low milage truck.
it will never be a collectors item (if these cars ever will be), with the story it has.
if you can get it for cheap (like a 50k mile truck would be worth) i would buy it, but not just for the 22k miles that have been put on with a long story

Wish you all the luck!

Re: hmmmm ok... so wtf??? saudi typhoon???

well im not buying it because its a saudi typhoon... honestly i couldn't care less. Especially since its missing everything that makes it a saudi ty.

and i think any serious collector is going to buy one with under 10k on it or something VIN# specific... in 5 years i dont think this ty will be worth that much less than any other ty with low miles. I'm not buying the ty so it can sit in the garage with a cover on it and never get driven. I plan on driving it! but not as a daily driver.

Besides a truck with significant mods isnt really a collectors item either, and a good portion of the people on this board have modded trucks.

As far as I'm concerned its a 20k Ty with a new tranny. Probably not worth as much as an untouched ty with 20k, but i think its worth more than a truck with 50k. no one knows what bin laden did with it for the last 13 years... but before i bought my sy i went and looked at a ty with 18k on it, and those were some rough 18k miles, the guy raced the truck just about every weekend and was already on his 2nd tranny and had the engine rebuilt.

so just because it had the tranny swapped because the guy didnt know any better, and because the mileage is off doesnt really bother me enough to pass on the deal, nor do i think its worth any less than what im paying for it.

just my :2cents:
