Re: Important Poll, please vote: What if cladding...
It would be hard to govern the buying and selling of said product to a directed & exclusive part of the market. In our case SyTy owners, we are a small group of only about 8000 trucks ever produced. Granted s-series owners couldn't buy direct but what will stop them from buying though "dealer"? I reference the word "dealer" as in somebody who buys multiple pieces and sells to anybody at an inflated rate.
Try and think of unregistered guns falling into the hands of criminals and what not. Granted the gun manufactures & national laws try to control that yet it still happens on a regular basis.
I'm saying this situation would be no different unless you regulated it to death. In which a lot of foot work must be done. Sending in VIN numbers, Vehicle titles to ensure that whomever is ordering a part actually has the vehicle its intended for, photo evidence that you "need" the part to complete the truck and limiting the amount and part you can buy.
If you and you investment backer are planning to go that route, I see it being not beneficial to whomever is reproducing or receiving these parts. The amount of regulation in the distribution of the product would increase cost on top of a small market audience.
I'd love to see a reproduction of cladding and other essential SyTy related parts, but as many of the other customer who are not endowed with a huge cash flow are gonna realize that reproduction cladding is too rich for their blood.
Anyway you look at it there is a willing marketplace for reproduction parts, especially this one as many owner fear the event of breaking cladding or an accident that ultimately wasn't their fault. Again I'd love to see it come to light and know if something ever happens I can always find the parts to fix it. Remember the movie Field of Dreams? "If you build it, they will come."
