Selling to s-series trucks would reduce the prices for everyone. We will literally pay for exclusivity if not. Any possibility to produce widebody fenders like that Ty in Germany?

I dont like the idea of S series guys having access. Id bet it would be very popular and then our trucks would be whored out in a way. Anyone could say its a SYTY. Its bad enough people will believe the Extreme is a SYTY 2G.

I've mentioned it in this thread a few posts back, but the source behind this has absolutely no interest in selling to standard S-Series owners and ONLY SyTy owners. It might be that you possibly have to provide a VIN number (or other SyTy specific info) before you buy a part and will be part of the equation. I dont know at this point, but I was told up front that selling to s-series wasnt a concern since there was no intention to marketing or selling directly to them.

I'm a little skeptical of this deal. What is the angle for this particular sugar daddy? If they are unwilling to sell to other than SYTY owners, then I guess it isn't a profit they are going after. But unless you have the resources of say.. Shelby or GM, another large organization it is unlikely you will be able to keep clones with clone cladding becoming a reality. I agree with the idea of not selling to fakers, but what is to stop some one from A. lying about a vin number, or B actually having a truck and then buying and immediately selling?

Im sure others are skeptical as well...which is going to happen. To have someone come out and say they can have cladding reproduced again but not provide any background of what is going on is kinda hard to believe. The person behind this is the real deal and has a direct connection with the trucks amongst other things.

I dont know what kind of system will be put in place for sales. If someone were to buy a piece and turn around and sell it to a s-series owner, then so be it. But if a s-series owner wants to buy direct, it isnt going to happen per the last conversation that was exchanged about the subject. VINs were just one thought, I dont know what else is planned.

I honestly don't see a bunch of 1st gen owners spending the money for a SyTy body kit, anyways.

It would be hard to govern the buying and selling of said product to a directed & exclusive part of the market. In our case SyTy owners, we are a small group of only about 8000 trucks ever produced. Granted s-series owners couldn't buy direct but what will stop them from buying though "dealer"? I reference the word "dealer" as in somebody who buys multiple pieces and sells to anybody at an inflated rate.

Try and think of unregistered guns falling into the hands of criminals and what not. Granted the gun manufactures & national laws try to control that yet it still happens on a regular basis.

I'm saying this situation would be no different unless you regulated it to death. In which a lot of foot work must be done. Sending in VIN numbers, Vehicle titles to ensure that whomever is ordering a part actually has the vehicle its intended for, photo evidence that you "need" the part to complete the truck and limiting the amount and part you can buy.

If you and you investment backer are planning to go that route, I see it being not beneficial to whomever is reproducing or receiving these parts. The amount of regulation in the distribution of the product would increase cost on top of a small market audience.

I'd love to see a reproduction of cladding and other essential SyTy related parts, but as many of the other customer who are not endowed with a huge cash flow are gonna realize that reproduction cladding is too rich for their blood.

Anyway you look at it there is a willing marketplace for reproduction parts, especially this one as many owner fear the event of breaking cladding or an accident that ultimately wasn't their fault. Again I'd love to see it come to light and know if something ever happens I can always find the parts to fix it. Remember the movie Field of Dreams? "If you build it, they will come."

Re: Important Poll, please vote: What if cladding...

This would be awesome.....not sure how I missed this thread....

But I've never been happy with my cladding and the way it fits. I honestly would probably try to replace every bit of it to get the clean look that I want. All of my bed cladding is off another truck and just never fit right to begin with. One of my biggest fears of running my truck on open road races and certain events is the possibility of damaging my cladding or just flat out losing it on an open road race. This would alleviate a lot of those worries and would feel more free to do the things I'd really like to with my truck. I really hope all of this comes to light.

I think it is really pretty cool to be syty specific personally(makes me feel special). On the other hand it doesn't make sense to me to make a product and not sell it to anyone who is willing to pay for it but I own a Syclone so I don't really care:lol:

Re: Important Poll, please vote: What if cladding...

How about carbon fiber cladding? For cheap!

LMFAO.

By the time molds where made and pieces could be produced, there would only be maybe enough people to count on 1 hand that would be truly interested in buying it at the cost it would have to be sold at. The molds alone would run into the several thousands of dollars to make properly to do vac infusion or pre-preg construction.

You think OEM cladding is expensive.... pfft, double to triple it for CF cladding. There are methods to cut cost down (CF/FG construction) but its still going to be pricey.

I have a few proto CF pieces I made years ago before I really knew how to do molding and make proper pieces. They have been stored for years but are eventually going up on someone's wall for decoration here shortly.

Re: Important Poll, please vote: What if cladding...

Anybody who wants our cladding has the ability to get it including S Series guys. They main thing that has been stopping them is the price. Unfortunately with truck values falling like they have been, it is becoming easier and easier to own a SyTySoGT as a whole, let alone the cladding from it. As long as cladding sets are going for as much $$ as they are, it is currently a better deal to just buy a truck and strip it for what you need and part the rest to recoup your money. I don't see that changing until cladding is made available at a affordable price, which doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon. :2cents:.
