I guess I'm gonna haveta run Shauns 06 Z06 when he gets it. Dunno how bad he will beat me.

Man, you love to stir the pot, don't you :). Should be interesting....the car is tuned to 563 rwhp in competition mode or 487 rwhp in touring mode and to prevent your name appearing in the local obituaries, I will run you in touring mode. I don't know what that equates to at the crank until I see the dyno sheets but it will make for some Typhoon chop souy. It doesn't weigh 5,000 pounds either, like the big SRT pig did  The question is not who will win in the end but rather how many milli-seconds of joy you will partake of off the line until I pass by.

race him in the rain and on a nice slippery road.

Good night.....he already has an AWD advantage and that is the only one he will have when racing me  My toys stay in the garage unless it is sunny and dry outside!

Just keep in mind.....a stock Z06 hits 60 MPH in 3.6 seconds. If Jimmy cranks his boost up to 24 (which I know he will) and runs with 1/4 tank of fuel, I still don't think he will pull a 3.6 0-60 but he does have a quick truck.....will be interesting.

also....it never matters who leaves the gate first...what matters is who crosses the finish line first :). In this case, it would be 1/4 mile. Wanna start a cash pool for whoever wins, supported by video of course? I can already envision my pretty dark blue Z06 receiving a full detail at the local detail shop to remove 150 mph bug splats, all coutesy of SyTy.net :). At least I won't have to worry about Typhoon blowby mist getting on my car.

Who's going to video?

Jimmy's wife (I hope).....maybe she can work some magic on the tape to move him closer to my backend at the finish.

Nah, he will probably bust something off the line. I might shift in neutral once I hit 100 mph just to make it a fair 1/4 mile race between us.

So T-Bone, Does this mean you are leaving the world of Syclone ownership?

No Sir!! I talked the buyer out of buying my 92 prototype Syclone and I have been clay barring it and polishing it out. The more time I spend with it, the closer we bond so I am not deserting my faithful forum friends. Just have a desire for something quicker and more reliable. It will take a mighty fine ride to surpass my Syclone in attractiveness though as far as I am concerned....the looks of these trucks still makes my hair stand up on my neck :).

Well, I don't have it yet Jeremy. I am driving to SC to look it over Monday and lay out a sizeable deposit IF it is as nice as described AND is what the owner says it is. Once I get it, I will have to feel it out since that is a huge HP jump for me. If you frequent the corvette forum site, there are Z06's here in TN that are pushing over 1,000 HP and running 8's on the street! You know what they say.....there is always someone else faster :). I have broadened my horizon from 1 dimensional thinking. Straight line is ok but the real skill is in accelerating, braking and navigating through curves. This car will be my Tail of the Dragon runner. My brother and I owned that stretch of road on motorcyles which reminds me.....I have a R6 Jimmy can tangle with too.

Oh i was just taking up for a fellow Sy/TY'er. Should be a nice ride.

We are hoping to get a few of us together at Bowling Green in the fall. You should bring the Z06 up!

PS- I thought the Dragon was too crowded to be worth a damn anymore?

Might just do that. I think I am close to getting my proto Sy dialed in to run consistent low 11's...maybe even 10's so I might just bring it :dunno:

PS - Depends on when you go. Holidays are a motorcycle madness and THP and local sheriff deputies flock there at times but have limited control. We use to whip around cars in the gap while an officer in pursuit would get stuck behind them. Thats been 7 years ago though so law enforcement may have stepped up there ante. I got out of bikes for a few years but picked up an 07 R6 a few months ago to combat gas prices. What a stride technology has made!

You know its funny you say this now, last weekend me and the wife took a road trip through the rockies. We weren't in anything fancy (dad's Altima SER  ) but the car does OK in turns. As we were hauling balls up highway 12 through all the insane turns, I was in it pretty good and my wife asked me why I don't like to race through turns. I told her its not that i don't but to have a car that can do it well cost a lot more than owning something like a SYTY. She asked me if I had to chose what type of racing I would do professionally what it be. I replied GTS, IMO, it doesn't get much better. Of course theres F1 but....... I really miss my Vette, I used rape all kinds of cars through the S-turns over here, it was a good time. All this talk about Vettes makes me want to go out and get another one. So Shaun, what will you be running for tires?

That used to be my favorite thing to do was carve through public roads, often times just focused on nothing but the road. thats why i miss the S4 so much, i had quite a bit invested in its already incredable suspension. but a great setup and plenty of track experiance dosen't matter when a drunk driver crosses into your lane when you are going 160 and clips your rear

First, S4's are awesome cars. I had a VW R32 and sold it last year and it was awesome but underpowered. Huge brakes; literally handled like a roller coaster. The NISMO 350Z I have is nice; brembos on all four, factory strut braces, factory steering stabilizer, factory adjustable suspension, factory built in lap timer, factory forged wheels BUT it is underpowered. I hope the Z06 fits the bill. The fastest a car will get up to through deals gap is probably 80. You no sooner get through a curve and power out before you are braking to set up for the next curve. There are some nice roads here as well....I just like unwinding at times. Used to road race motorcycles and I also had my SCCA license but it lapsed in 2004. Guess I am hitting my mid-life withdraws (haha).
