Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

Truckless. For now.
Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

Good luck going straight... has to be one scary ride. If i was you I would bring a extra pair of pants/shorts to the track!!!

Watching it launch in KC '06, Robert has it dialed in pretty darn good. It just squats and goes. No real wiggle at all

No it is Quite undramaticly, seems U have´nt seen this launch and run at all?

Maybee just seen Ed Hess or Matt Hoovers realy scarry rides??

Absolutly Right then it just sat down and straight as an arrow run down the track , we have sins then done som minor tweeking on the chassie and now we have more of an ANTI squat move at the rear BUT still as gentle and straight down the road..

Why? because driving ANY vehicle, especially an AWD one at that speed is a recipe for sideways.

Silly thats a bad tuned chassie on RWD or AWD or FWD that bucks and jerks around at track and I admit thats dangerous,And quite honnest, U got herb Adams and loots of good profesional tuners to chassie´s and engine´s still a backyard wrenching Swede made them all lose face..

BUT Roberts Syclone has never done anny buckin/jerkin/hopping around on track, Just eases of and run straigh as H**L a matter of fact its quite BOORING to watch.. boring and safe and fast. :D

I realy dont know what Ed or Matt have done to there trucks, they are fast and violent/scary at the track, yes there dipers do good ;D . BUT NOT as fast as Robert is, And with a much more smoooth power to the ground run..Fast and straight

I understands this :D

I try to show him the different in handling on launch and acording to tune and different setups, the results and safety in a well tuned Syclone. ( anny race car)

MAYBEE due to all racing over here with AWD (Rallye, Rallye cross, streetrace legal, and dragrace and other forms) the use to setup AWD cars for handling and Power is better over here than in US?
Here in Sweden AWD is a comon car in shape of AUDI and every kid on the block wants to go fast..

Agree 110%

His suspension is setup perfect... No wheel stand... no hop or side step nothing... looks like it's going
2.0 60's where it's proably 1.3-4 somthing. It's amazing..... it'd be AWSOME to see again. (hint hint)

Wheel stands are cool to watch but they do nothing for 1/4mi times but slow you down. ;)

Did you stop and think before posting or did ignorance just take over?

Going from 9.0 to 8.5 is just 10-20 horsepower right?! HA

There has been NO MENTION of any suspension changes or tweaking.

So, one is left to assume you are adding a few hundred hp to a vehicle that is going teasing with squirly from the get go.

So, tell me, using your great common sense, what is that a recipe for?

At least put a little thought and attempt to contribute next time.

I wish them nothing but the best of luck as the truck is amazing and I enjoy following it on its path to the many records.

edit #2::: In this link you not only hear it break loose after the 60' but you see the ass end wiggle just a little.

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

My post were made under the impression it was a stock style suspension truck since I have not seen anything stated otherwise.

Since making my post, I have learned that is not the case so I retract my previous comments.

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009

As I said, you had to be there in '06 to see his truck launch. It just goes. NO Drama.

Just because they didn't specifically say, "Hey guys, we're also tweaking the suspension setup" doesn't mean they aren't. Robert clearly knows his truck as evidenced by multiple quick passes without incident (As far as suspension goes).

I think it's safe to say his quicker times will be made without any drama as well.

How's your suspension setup Silly? How's it work at the track? Does it wiggle at all? Do you have it setup right to handle all the power? Is your first pass with your setup going to be full power all out? ;)

For whatever reason here, you seem to be making something from nothing. The Swede's are busy working on an insanely fast AWD truck. I'm betting they don't have the time to spell everything out for you in full detail. Jealous that Robert's truck has actually made a pass or 7?

Jealous? Of course, its a badass truck that 100% of this website would be jealous of.

Something out of nothing? Hardly, its called conversation, how am I or anyone else to learn anything if we are not allowed to speak our mind and or ask any questions?

My truck has NOTHING to do with this discussion, so not sure if you are trying to take an ignorant jab or what you point is. Will I have to tweak it and play with it? I am sure i will, as would anyone in this sort of situation.

If Robert's truck was still a stock style suspension I think it would be ideal to discuss as many people on here can learn from him obviously. But according to you we can not discuss anything? Just bown down and put on your knee pads?

To say any vehicle went straight before, so after adding 500hp it will automatically go straight again is niave, and I am sure they went over that. Did they tell us? No. Do they have to? No. They work hard for their results and if they want to play some cards closer then that is their right. That does not mean it can not be asked.

Tj, lets not get into this... you have no experience whatsoever with anythign besids a stock typhoon. Remember you are the one who told me "Bully has the best suspension and knows what he is doing" then you linked me to a video where the truck was all over the road and went into the opposing lane.

So in summary, I guess I will just follow your lead and others then and sit back and let all this talk go on, not ask any question, slap on my knee pads and not learn a damn thing from the well of information Robert would have to offer.

Fine, let's try another approach

Robert, you have kindly posted all of your engine/drivetrain information already, but I have noticed you never post anything suspension related.

What do you have for suspension and what makes it that it puts you on the different level than Hess, Hoover and the rest of the insanley fast guys?

Will you share the information you have withheld thus far? Thank you.

We are continually told "we know what we are doing" "it went straight 2 years ago" but we are never told WHY.

Can you share that information or are we left guessing and being jealous and "starting shit"

Sorry for the late answer, its time for dinner over here so its hard to keep it up.
Dont take this the wrong way now BUT we have givven alot of ansvers around the suspenion systems allready, look here

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=62285 Is it impossible to do this tread a "Stickie"??

This tread have been here long time

AXLES:
Front is still stock with a 3,42:1 gear and a Powertrax´s non slip system.
Rear is a 12 bolt Moser limited slip with 3,42:1 gear

CHASSIE:
Orginal frame car, with JSM front/Al Dustin Coil over system in rear
Rear axle have ladderbars in orginal leaf spring front eye location
And a panhard bar as locator.

Some minor trix and mix to chassie by Robert and Nova to get a lithle anti squat reaction on rearend
( I told U an AWD is a FWD and a RWD combined ;D and here is where the coffedope´d brain did its work)
THIS info Ive given lots of times, but U have to start searchingin these matter, its no fun in always repeting myself all the time

Besides this its WERRY IMPORTENT to have the truck properly aligned, squared, checked for straight axles (some orginal toe in has to remain on rear axle) and have all the bushings steering arms in top conditions , U have to get the right spring rate acording to Ur trucks weight and U have to deside what chocks to use and settings depending on HP, stallconverter, tires, starting teknique, and a couple of more settings to Ur car, so giving all this specific info on Roberts truck wont help U a bit

One trick in all turbo engine cars is to controll power at all time specially if U have to start on almost cold tires.

Yes sometimes the rear wigles alithle on Roberts truck but thats more of a track prep isue not chassie setting

Thank you, the parts in bold is really what I was looking for. I see what you have on the truck but the tips and teaks is what I was looking for. Like what spring rate did you start with? What did you end up with? Why did you believe that change was needed? That is the type of information I meant as that is the type of information that helps me and others learn ya know?

Lastly, you commented on the track prep, or lack there of. When i did notice the wiggle it appeared to be maybe 100' out no? You have no run into the problem of the suspension unloading at all when it wants to get loose?

Re: Mr Syclone Updates for 2009
